About The Position

We are currently hiring a mid-level Mechanical Engineer in our Building Engineering Division – Energy Infrastructure team in our Rochester, NY office. LaBella’s Energy Infrastructure team provides comprehensive energy efficiency and renewable energy consultancy, including feasibility analyses, and design of mechanical systems. Our engineers are well-versed in all aspects of building and energy systems design relating to a variety of new construction, renovations, and design/build projects for a variety of clientele. The Mechanical Engineer will work with our engineers in a lead role on a variety of decarbonization/electrification projects to develop projects in feasibility stages all the way through design and construction. A successful candidate will be able to work well in a team, mentor junior engineers, and communicate effectively with clients.

Requirements

8-10 years of relevant experience
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering is preferred
Well-rounded experience in HVAC and hydronic system design
Experience with Revit or AutoCAD
Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Nice To Haves

Preferred: experience designing geothermal or district energy systems
New York State Professional Engineer’s license is a plus

Responsibilities

Lead design of building HVAC systems and district energy systems
Field investigations to document existing conditions
Selection and calculations for design purposes
Work with Jr Engineers to develop and review project drawings and documentation
Interact directly with clients by completing analysis of design options, cost benefit comparisons, and communicating results to assist in decision making process.
Ensure compliance with applicable codes, standards, and utility requirements
