About The Position

This Sr Material Controller will be responsible for conducting various materials and inventory control functions in support of the company’s production and customer requirements, including, but not limited to, receiving, transacting material into stock, proper warehousing of materials and a back-up to shipping. This is a hands-on role responsible for the control, movement, and strategic management of materials within the stockroom and the Epicor Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system. The position ensures accurate material handling, traceability, and compliance with quality standards while supporting production and organizational goals. Responsibilities include issuing stock material to production jobs, component kitting for production jobs, support quality and purchasing functions, and backing up Shipping and Receiving operations. In addition to day-to-day stockroom activities, this role develops and implements strategies, goals, and procedures to meet material and production requirements across all business segments and locations. The Sr. Materials Control Specialist fosters proactive relationships with customers, suppliers, and internal teams to minimize total landed and shipped material costs while maintaining compliance with ISO 13485 and other external requirements. This role will also assist with cross functional coordination between Production, ADL, Materials Management and Planning Groups to enhance/develop material control and inventory management procedures and practices.

Requirements

  • High School Degree or equivalent experience.
  • 3+ years experience in receiving/stockroom.
  • A minimum of 3-5 years’ experience working with an integrated ERP system in a Manufacturing environment.
  • Hands-on experience implementing and maintaining demand and time phased requirements of an Epicor or similar ERP system
  • Supporting company requirements in a multi-site environment ISO 13485 experience
  • Knowledge of inventory control principles and processes.
  • Familiar with ISO Standards and Good Manufacturing Practices.
  • Proficient in various MS Office applications.
  • Strong communication and organization skills.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee material movement and control within the stockroom and ERP system.
  • Issue stock materials, perform component kitting, and support purchasing functions.
  • Backup and supplement Shipping and Receiving operations as needed.
  • Develop and implement material control strategies aligned with company objectives.
  • Maintain traceability and compliance with quality management systems and regulatory standards.
  • Conduct incoming inspections of raw materials; inspect final documentation packages; scan, retain, and manage production travelers for full lot/device history.
  • Supervise, train, and develop staff to ensure operational excellence.
  • Enhance ERP system utilization and document related processes.
  • Define, develop, and report key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives for material handling and related processes.
  • Accurately receive all materials (Inventory, MRO) in a timely basis per the established guidelines.
  • Responsible for proper inventory storage and accuracy through proper controlling of receipts/issuances.
  • Properly bag, tag, label inventory, and practice proper FIFO stock rotation, in a manner to ensure GMP compliance at all times.
  • Perform Cycle Counts and physical inventories as required to ensure inventory accuracy.
  • Assist in the review/resolution of accounts payable/receivable invoice discrepancies, to ensure timely resolution
  • Evaluate/propose enhancement to current materials handling/storage/flow process to ensure timely availability to the production floor in a GMP compliant manner.
  • Assist Production Manager/Materials group in developing enhanced/improved material control procedures and production processes
  • Back-up shipping as needed.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned.
