About The Position

As the Sr. Manufacturing Engineer - Power electronics, you will be supporting the drive unit EPC manufacturing team in the development and implementation of our next-generation power electronics manufacturing processes and assembly lines. You will drive the entire equipment lifecycle from initial design and in-house fabrication to validation and production ramp-up. Your role involves developing new manufacturing processes (including but not limited to dispense, gluing, vision, laser weld, staking, etc.), DFX, participating in design workshops, creating detailed work instructions, PFMEA, managing installations, FAT/SAT, and ramp up of manufacturing equipment ensuring exceptional quality and efficiency. This role is located at our Normal, IL or Irvine, CA facility and reports directly to a Manager, Manufacturing Engineering.

Requirements

  • BS/MS in Engineering, Physics, Mathematics (or equivalent)
  • 5+ years experience in an automated manufacturing environment (including internships)
  • Hands-on experience in building/troubleshooting automation systems and acquiring experimental data
  • Strong problem solving skills and aptitude for learning systems quickly
  • Communicate effectively with direct team and peers within a manufacturing and engineering organization.
  • Detail oriented with strong record-keeping and organizational skills
  • Proficient in complex electro-mechanical system design
  • Understand GD&T principles
  • Proficient in process characterization and validation using statistical tools
  • Experience creating process documentation
  • Experience with 2D & 3D software (AutoCAD, Solidworks, and Catia)
  • Ability to travel both domestically and internationally as required

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop automated production lines for product flow, ergonomics and efficiency, scalability, standardization, and continuous quality monitoring
  • Manage the entire equipment lifecycle, including the design, procurement, construction, and deployment
  • Lead In-house development of workstations, manufacturing equipment and fixtures
  • Oversee the installation, acceptance testing and ramp up of manufacturing equipment/lines
  • Drive closure to open issues identified during FAT/SAT activities prior to equipment hand off to production
  • Lead the characterization and validation of new equipment and fixtures for introduction to the production floor
  • Participate in early prototype equipment builds to characterize and develop both equipment and processes
  • Provide Design for Manufacturing feed-back to Product Design Engineering team
  • Development of new manufacturing processes, process sequences, and process recipes
  • Identify and Drive corrective actions for performance and process quality issues
  • Creation of detailed Manufacturing Instructions to support new processes, equipment and operations
  • Perform process analysis including PFMEA, control plans and capacity modeling
  • Support implementation of product traceability and shop floor tracking
