About The Position

As a Senior Manager, Platform Engineer, you will lead the implementation and evolution of Topgolf's modern, Kubernetes-driven platform infrastructure. Acting as a technical lead within the Platform Engineering team, you'll guide the development of scalable, secure, and high-performing systems that enable teams across the organization to deliver exceptional products efficiently. You'll mentor other engineers, champion best practices in automation and reliability, and collaborate cross-functionally to shape the future of our platform ecosystem.

Requirements

8+ years of experience in platform engineering, DevOps, or infrastructure architecture, with increasing leadership responsibility.
Deep expertise in Kubernetes (K8s) - cluster design, lifecycle management, security, networking, and storage integration.
Strong proficiency with containerization (Docker) and orchestration in hybrid cloud environments (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
Advanced knowledge of IaC tools such as Terraform, Helm, and Ansible.
Proven experience designing and maintaining CI/CD pipelines using tools like Jenkins and GitHub Actions.
Strong understanding of observability tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, and the ELK stack.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with a track record of technical mentorship and cross-functional leadership.

Nice To Haves

Experience managing multi-cluster Kubernetes environments and service meshes (e.g., Istio, Linkerd).
Familiarity with serverless architectures and event-driven systems.
Knowledge of distributed databases (SQL, NoSQL).
Proficiency in Python and familiarity with object-oriented programming principles.

Responsibilities

Implement and maintain a Kubernetes-based platform supporting diverse containerized workloads across multiple teams and environments.
Utilize Terraform, Ansible, and Rancher to automate deployments across hybrid environments, including on-premises and cloud infrastructures.
Design and manage network configurations, ingress controllers, and service meshes, ensuring secure and efficient connectivity within Kubernetes.
Lead platform modernization initiatives, introducing new technologies and patterns to enhance scalability and maintainability.
Oversee the implementation of robust CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions, Jenkins, and Artifactory, enabling streamlined software delivery and automation.
Develop and enforce infrastructure-as-code (IaC) standards using Terraform, Helm, and Ansible.
Design custom deployment frameworks and tooling in Python or Bash, driving consistency and efficiency across teams.
Serve as a subject matter expert for CI/CD and infrastructure automation, providing technical guidance and code reviews.
Define and implement comprehensive monitoring, logging, and alerting systems for Kubernetes clusters and platform services.
Proactively drive performance tuning, load testing, and resilience engineering to ensure system reliability and scalability.
Optimize resource utilization and orchestration strategies, leveraging health checks, autoscaling, and observability insights.
Partner closely with software engineering, IT, and product teams to align platform capabilities with evolving business needs.
Act as a technical mentor for Platform Engineers, fostering a culture of knowledge sharing and continuous improvement.
Influence platform architecture decisions and long-term technical strategy.
Define and enforce Kubernetes security standards, including RBAC, secrets management, and pod security policies.
Collaborate with security teams to ensure compliance with organizational and industry best practices for cloud and data protection.
Lead reviews of infrastructure changes to maintain compliance and operational excellence.
