The Senior Materials & Scheduling Manager in our cutting-edge gene therapy production facility will play a pivotal role in ensuring the seamless flow of materials and efficient scheduling of manufacturing operations. This position is critical to supporting life-changing therapies for patients by driving operational excellence in a highly regulated, fast-paced environment. You will lead the materials management and production scheduling functions to guarantee uninterrupted manufacturing operations. This includes overseeing raw material planning, inventory control, and master production scheduling to meet clinical and commercial supply requirements while maintaining compliance with cGMP and global regulatory standards. The role demands strong leadership, strategic planning, and collaboration across manufacturing, quality, and supply chain teams to optimize resources and deliver on timelines for gene therapy products. The Sr. Manager, Materials & Scheduling will report to the Director, Supply Chain and has direct supervisory responsibilities for the Materials Planning team

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Operations, Engineering, or related field.
  • 8+ years of experience in materials management and production scheduling within pharmaceutical or biotech manufacturing; gene therapy experience highly desirable.
  • Strong knowledge of cGMP, FDA, and EMA regulations.
  • Proficiency in ERP systems (SAP, Oracle) and advanced planning tools.
  • Minimum 4 years of progressive, direct people leadership experience.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office products.

Nice To Haves

  • MBA or CPIM/CSCP certification preferred.
  • Lean/Six Sigma experience desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute material planning strategies to ensure timely availability of raw materials, consumables, and components for viral vector and gene therapy production.
  • Manage supplier relationships and collaborate with procurement to optimize lead times and mitigate supply risks.
  • Lead the creation and maintenance of the Master Production Schedule (MPS) aligned with demand forecasts, capacity constraints, and resource availability.
  • Coordinate with manufacturing, quality, and supply chain teams to optimize production sequencing and minimize downtime.
  • Manage and develop a team of planners and material coordinators, fostering a culture of accountability and excellence.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives in planning and materials management through Lean and Six Sigma methodologies.
