About The Position

The Senior Manager, FP&A will have a focus on Cost and General Accounting will join Otis’ North Americas Operations Finance department, focusing on cost accounting management and general accounting oversight for New Equipment operations. This role manages manufacturing cost accounting processes, ensures accurate inventory valuation and general ledger integrity, and supports monthly/quarterly close activities while delivering actionable insights on cost drivers and operational efficiency. Reporting to the Sr. Director, Americas Operations Finance, the Senior Manager leads cost accounting functions, general accounting compliance, and cross-functional partnerships with factory operations. This position will lead a group of professionals that will report directly to the chosen candidate. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (CPA, CMA, or equivalent certification preferred).
  • 5+ years of progressive experience in cost accounting and general accounting, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong proficiency in cost accounting principles, including standard costing, variance analysis, inventory valuation, and COGS reporting.
  • Expertise in financial modeling, data analysis, ERP systems (e.g., JD Edwards preferred), and reporting tools.
  • Advanced skills in Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, macros) and familiarity with tools like Hyperion Financial Management (HFM), Smart View, and QlikView preferred.
  • Ability to interpret complex financial and operational data, identify trends, variances, and root causes, and deliver actionable insights.
  • High accuracy in financial reporting, reconciliations, and compliance with GAAP and internal controls.
  • Strong ability to present complex cost and accounting information clearly to finance and non-finance stakeholders, including senior leadership.
  • Proactive approach to resolving cost inefficiencies, process gaps, and business challenges.
  • Proven success working in cross-functional, fast-paced manufacturing environments.

Responsibilities

  • Lead monthly and quarterly close processes, including preparation of manufacturing variances, cost of goods sold (COGS) analysis, inventory reconciliations, and general ledger account reviews.
  • Analyze manufacturing costs, standard vs. actual variances, and product profitability to identify cost drivers and opportunities for improvement.
  • Develop, maintain, and review standard costs, labor and burden rates, and overhead allocations.
  • Support factory billing process, ensuring appropriate and timely billing adjustments to New Equipment jobs.
  • Oversee intercompany accounting requirements, including reconciliations and timely resolution of disputes and collaboration with other Otis entities on billings to ensure timely disposition.
  • Manage the fixed asset process, reconciliation with capital project spend and timely capitalization of assets into service.
  • Conduction periodic reviews on freight spending, accruals, and freight analysis (i.e.: cost per load)
  • Oversee inventory management, valuation, and reporting, including cycle counts, excess and obsolete (E&O) reserves, and perpetual inventory reconciliations.
  • Monitor key cost metrics, trends, and operational performance drivers, providing proactive variance explanations and recommendations.
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP, internal controls, and company policies in cost and general accounting areas.
  • Support internal and external audits, compliance reviews, and process improvements related to cost accounting and general ledger.
  • Prepare and present cost reports, financial analyses, and presentations for senior leadership.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive cost efficiencies, optimize processes, and standardize accounting practices across operations.
  • Participate in ad-hoc analyses, special projects, and continuous improvement initiatives.
