About The Position

As a Senior Manager of Finance supporting Nordstrom's merchandising organization, you will partner directly with business teams to drive customer and financial outcomes. This role is critical to the continued success of Nordstrom's private label business (NPG), initiatives involving brand-owned inventory (e.g., concessions), and merchandising expense management. By providing finance partnership-advising the business with strategic planning, investment decision support, and performance insights-you will play an essential role in driving growth and maximizing profitability. You will collaborate closely with stakeholders to translate financial analyses into clear, actionable insights that inform both strategic and operational decisions. The ideal candidate is a self-starter, demonstrates exceptional attention to detail, and can influence leaders to deliver results in a fast-moving retail environment. Success in this role requires balancing strategic thinking with hands-on execution, while fostering strong partnerships across merchandising and finance. This is a Hybrid Seattle position in downtown Seattle, WA. You will be required to be in the office 4 days per week. We do not offer relocation for this position.

Requirements

  • A bachelor's degree in finance or a similar field
  • 7+ years of progressive finance experience (retail finance preferred) with scope and accountability progression
  • 3+ years prior management and/or supervision experience; a team leader with a passion for teaching and coaching early and mid-career professionals
  • Ability to think strategically and communicate effectively with all levels of management, including the ability to coach others on the art of data-driven storytelling
  • Skilled at collaborating, comfortable dealing with ambiguity, able to influence across finance and merchandising teams
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively translate financial analysis and insights into meaningful and actionable business recommendations
  • Clear and effective written and verbal communication and strong interpersonal skills

Nice To Haves

  • Tableau, SQL and/or Power BI experience desired and proficiency in MS Office Suite (including advanced MS Excel); Anaplan or similar tool experience nice to have

Responsibilities

  • Create action plans with merchandising leadership for Nordstrom Product Group (NPG) to drive growth and profitability as well as deliver efficiencies
  • Partner on initiatives involving brand-owned inventory (e.g., concessions), deliver forecasting accuracy, actionable performance insights, and strategic recommendations that fuel profitability and growth
  • Lead expense management across the merchandising function, focused both on advising the business on long-term expense strategy as well as on near-term forecasting, close, and reporting
  • Partners with teams across Finance and Merchandising, providing financial support with a sharp focus on sales, margin, and inventory, while flexing styles for various audiences
  • Support the development of financial models, analytical and reporting tools, and ad hoc analysis/special projects
  • Drive process improvements and reporting standardization/simplification
  • Provide support, leadership, and coaching for team members
