The Senior Manager, Enterprise Data, Strategy & Architecture plays a pivotal leadership role in shaping the company’s data future—defining strategy, architecting modern data platforms, and guiding execution across a global, asset‑intensive petrochemical enterprise. This leader partners closely with the Chief Data & Architecture Office (CDAO), Digital Technology leadership team, Business Executives, and DT Operations, Engineering and Delivery Teams to design, architect, and govern a scalable, secure, and trusted data ecosystem built on Modern and Standard Data Platform. The role requires deep industry experience in petroleum, petrochemicals, or energy markets, with a strong understanding of operational, commercial, and regulatory data domains.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in related discipline with specialized leadership training and/or demonstrated capability to perform job responsibilities through previous experience and education
  • 15+ years of experience in enterprise data architecture, data engineering, or digital transformation roles.
  • Proven leadership in designing and operating cloud‑based data platforms using: Azure Data Services (Data Lake, Synapse, Data Factory, Purview, Event Hub, Functions) Snowflake (architecture, performance tuning, governance) Azure Databricks (Delta Lake, MLflow, Spark optimization)
  • Strong understanding of data governance, metadata management, and enterprise data management practices.
  • Demonstrated experience in petroleum, petrochemicals, energy trading, or heavy manufacturing industries.
  • Expertise in designing data solutions supporting operational technology (OT), manufacturing systems, commercial trading, and supply chain processes.
  • Ability to influence senior executives and drive alignment across complex, global organizations.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to translate technical concepts into business value.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience implementing data fabric or data mesh architectures at enterprise scale.
  • Familiarity with SAP ECC/S4, BTP, and integration patterns for ERP‑to‑cloud data flows.
  • Understanding of regulatory frameworks relevant to petrochemical operations (e.g., EPA, OSHA, REACH).
  • Background in AI/ML platform enablement, MLOps, or LLM‑based capabilities.

Responsibilities

  • Define and evolve LYB’s enterprise data strategy, ensuring alignment with corporate objectives, digital transformation priorities, and the Operating Model.
  • Lead multi‑year roadmaps for data modernization, including cloud migration, data fabric capabilities, and AI‑readiness.
  • Drive enterprise adoption of data standards, governance frameworks, and architectural principles across business units and global functions.
  • Serve as a strategic advisor to senior executives on data‑driven decision‑making, platform investments, and emerging technologies.
  • Architect and oversee the enterprise data platform leveraging Azure services (Azure Data Lake Storage, Azure Synapse, Azure Data Factory, Azure Purview), Snowflake, and Azure Databricks.
  • Establish reference architectures, integration patterns, and best practices for ingestion, transformation, modeling, and consumption.
  • Guide the design of scalable data products, operational data pipelines, and advanced analytics environments supporting both IT and business teams.
  • Ensure platform performance, reliability, cost optimization, and security in alignment with enterprise architecture and cybersecurity standards.
  • Lead enterprise data governance initiatives, including metadata management, data quality frameworks, lineage, and stewardship models.
  • Partner with Legal, Compliance, and Cybersecurity to ensure adherence to regulatory requirements relevant to petrochemical operations and global markets.
  • Champion trusted, well‑governed data as a foundational enabler for AI, machine learning, and advanced analytics.
  • Collaborate with Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Commercial, Finance, and HSE to translate business needs into scalable data solutions.
  • Drive adoption of data‑driven capabilities in areas such as feedstock optimization, trading & risk, production planning, reliability engineering, and ESG reporting.
  • Lead cross‑functional teams to deliver high‑impact data initiatives that improve operational efficiency, reduce risk, and unlock commercial value.
  • Build and mentor a high‑performing team of data architects, platform engineers, and strategy analysts.
  • Foster a culture of innovation, continuous learning, and engineering excellence.
  • Promote collaboration across Digital Technology, business units, and external partners.
