As the senior engineering manager for site planning and civil development, you'll ensure high-profile land development projects move from concept to reality with precision, quality, and consistency. By guiding internal teams, partnering with external consultants, and upholding development standards, this role ensures projects are delivered on time, on budget, and built to last—while also providing expert engineering support that protects and strengthens Maverik's existing operations. Location/Schedule: This role is based at our Salt Lake City Headquarters with a 4-day hybrid in-office schedule. Position Summary & Day-to-Day Responsibilities: This role leads civil engineering and site planning efforts while managing internal teams and external consultants to deliver complex development projects efficiently and to standard.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering (or equivalent); Professional Engineer (P.E.) required
  • 7+ years of civil engineering experience, including site development and land planning
  • 7+ years of experience preparing documentation and securing municipal entitlements
  • 5+ years of experience supporting real estate development projects
  • Proven experience managing design-phase projects, schedules, and consultants
  • Strong knowledge of land use, utility permitting, and dry utilities

Nice To Haves

  • Master's degree in Civil Engineering
  • Active P.E. registration in Utah and/or Colorado
  • Experience supporting construction administration and operational site corrections

Responsibilities

  • Lead, coach, and develop direct reports, including hiring, training, and performance management
  • Manage internal teams and external consultants across site design, construction documentation, permitting, and construction administration
  • Oversee site layout, grading, utility design, and stormwater/water quality calculations using AutoCAD
  • Guide projects to ensure quality, schedule, and budget commitments are met
  • Partner with Real Estate, Site Development, and Construction to support company growth objectives
  • Provide forensic civil engineering support for operational and facilities-related issues, including permitting and jurisdictional coordination
  • Maintain and evolve company development standards while leading the internal site planning team
