About The Position

The Senior Engineering Manager - Busbar is a highly visible and critical role that is responsible for all engineering-related activities in support of growing the Busbar global line of business in North America. The incumbent will be responsible for establishing regional engineering standards to drive design consistency across the region while improving cost competitiveness, ease of manufacturability and field serviceability of Busbar products.  The incumbent will establish and grow a sustaining engineering team to support all manufacturing sites in North America and future engineering expansion in North America if required.    This role will manage, but not be limited to, mechanical, Technical, sustaining, BIM and electrical engineers for the Busbar line of business across your region by coordinating with regional Engineering managers to standard engineering processes globally.   This position requires strong collaboration across Vertiv employees, Managers, sales and operations teams and will work in close partnership with the broader Vertiv Lines of Business to leverage common standards and design tools.

Requirements

  • HND or degree in Engineering, 5+ years of product experience.
  • Deep technical subject matter expertise in power distribution and Busbar products. 
  • Managerial skills are necessary to plan, measure, and motivate people to continuously improve their output and personal growth.
  • Exceptional communication skills and ability to build diverse relationships internally and externally.

Responsibilities

  • Drive standardisation of design, creating global platforms that can be tailored to regional-specific needs. 
  • Balance engineering demand with available engineering capacity, optimising work effort regionally.
  • Improve core engineering processes and tools to streamline design efforts and increase visibility and tracking of status and key work products (e.g. submittals traceability etc.). 
  • Personally engage in engineering activities with customers and programs. 
  • Define and improve standard work documentation in line with global standards for the engineering team, audit the team’s work for conformance to defined processes, and monitor improvement to team KPIs. 
  • Manage the recruiting, onboarding, and development of engineering personnel to improve individual capabilities, productivity, and performance.
  • Maintain appropriate contacts with industry organisations, regulatory agencies, and external pressures to maintain technical leadership.
  • Serve as a technical point for customers, manufacturing, and service to resolve complex issues. 
  • Drive Value Analysis/Value Engineering (VAVE) to optimise the cost structure of Busbar products. 
  • Promote the Busbar product line’s vision, objectives, and strategic priorities and functions.
  • Establish a sustaining engineering team to support manufacturing sites in North America and future engineering expansion in North America if required.
  • supporting the future Oracle ERP and PD Cloud integration, ensuring engineering processes, tools, and data are effectively aligned with the new systems to improve collaboration, visibility, and efficiency across sites.
  • Drive alignment, ensuring consistent engineering practices, shared priorities, and coordinated execution.
  • Work with all departments in Anderson to foster collaboration and drive a culture change in Anderson.
