About The Position

Founded by former strategy consultants, Capital One is a strategy driven company. The highly selective Corporate Strategy group engages on a targeted set of ultra-high impact issues that drive the direction and performance of the company. We seek an exceptional and innovative individual to join Corporate Strategy’s Consumer Intelligence team. Consumer Intelligence was formed at the request of the CEO to increase the business’s focus on our customers. Team members function as strategy analysts and work at the intersection of strategy consulting and market research to help identify, structure, and research open-ended problems and influence senior leadership. Recent examples of work include deep competitive benchmarking on mobile app experiences to inform digital strategy, unpacking how customers are feeling throughout the Discover acquisition, and diagnosing impacts of changing student loan forbearance programs and Medicaid on consumer financial health. As a Senior Manager on the team, you will be a people leader for 2+ associates, as well as manage a larger dotted-line team on projects. You will have conversations with senior executives across the entire company about their priorities and consumer insights needs, prioritize and scope work for the team, and then manage the team to deliver insights and impact. You will coach the team in getting the most from our existing data, as well as writing new surveys to uncover needed insights on topics that will help shape Capital One’s strategy, product offerings, marketing, communications, and customer experience.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • At least 3 years of experience in Strategy Consulting, Business Analysis, Consumer Insights, Corporate Strategy, or a combination
  • At least 1 year of people management experience

Responsibilities

  • Lead and develop a high-performing team of strategy associates, including shaping the vision for their roles and success and team culture, in addition to overseeing their project work
  • Guide your team’s scope, figuring out what topics are most impactful for the team to tackle, and developing relationships with senior leaders to influence decisions
  • Develop consumer survey research and insights on high impact topics, with a focus on how consumers are thinking, feeling, and behaving
  • Craft compelling stories rooted in rigorous analysis to influence senior executives
  • Advance the thinking on what’s possible with customer and competitive insights, working with others on the team and vendors to manage and evolve our data and survey portfolio
