About The Position

Senior Machinists in the Tool Room are primarily responsible for the Fabrication, repair and refurbishment of tooling in support of manufacturing operations Essential Functions: All applicants will be evaluates on current skill level as well as ability to demonstrate proficiency in the following areas within 90 days of hire. Training will be provided. Train new employees in set up and operation as needed. Diagnose and correct operating difficulties. Manufacture, Fabricate, repair and refurbish tooling per print specs. Change tooling and attachments as required; prescribed machining for standard tooling to meet varying conditions and material. Refer to Shop Order for dimensions, tolerances, finishes, and number of parts to be machined. Follow established procedures, verbal instructions. Use micrometers, verniers, optical comparator, microscope, and a variety of fixed and adjustable gauges to set-up equipment and check work. Maintain necessary records. Detect and report unusual conditions and special problems to proper Supervisor. Move materials, parts, and containers, as required, in performance of duties or as directed. Follow prescribed safety rules and regulations, and conform to OSHA regulations. Keep work area in clean and orderly condition. Perform other duties as required or directed. NOTES: (1) Assigned work areas may change as production requirements warrant. (2) Machinists are responsible for producing quality parts; i.e. within specification. Non-conformance to specifications must be brought to the attention of the Team Leader or Supervisor.

Requirements

  • Ability to demonstrate proficiency and efficiency within 90 days of hire, with set up and operation within a functional area such as milling, lathes, and grinding - all machines (including surface, cylindrical and jig grinding)
  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Meet all requirements of Machinist II
  • Ability and willingness to train new employees in set up and operation
  • Demonstrated mechanical aptitude
  • Basic blueprint reading skills
  • Ability to read and understand complex written and verbal instructions in English
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations (addition, subtraction) and maintain an understanding of the decimal and metric systems
  • Able to be flexible and respond to the changing needs of the organization
  • Ability to lift 40 lbs.
