About The Position

The Senior Instructional Designer, Learning and Development (L&D) is responsible for designing and deploying world-class, end-to-end learning experiences through learning programs that support organizational growth and talent development. The role focuses on aligning learning programs with Zelis’ business goals and culture while integrating best practices in adult learning, learning experience design, organizational learning, and leadership development. This role will report to the Sr. Director, Enterprise Learning & Development (ELD and collaborate with other stakeholders in both the US and India across People & Culture and other functions to create impactful learning experiences. The Senior ID leverages stakeholder requirements and audience insights to create innovative, evidence-based learning solutions. This includes researching and recommending new design and assessment tactics, as well as leading the development of models, methods, tools, and technologies to drive associate and people leader learning and deliver measurable business impact.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of relevant HR experience preferably in organizational or learning and development, with a proven track record designing eLearning and instructor led content for both associates and leaders in a professional setting
  • 4-year college or bachelor’s degree in Instructional Design, Learning Experience Design, Organizational Learning and development or related degree preferred
  • Expert and passionate about the learning function and adult learning principles
  • Fluent in both spoken and written English
  • Proficiency in learning technologies and tools, such as Articulate, Adobe Captivate, and Workday Learning
  • Proven experience managing complex learning projects and aligning programs to organizational strategies through project management tools and methodologies
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to offer clear solutions
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Excellent customer service and interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills, including presentation design.
  • Works well with others at all levels
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and adapt in ambiguous situations
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Word, PowerPoint and Excel for data management
  • Business acumen with an understanding of organizational challenges and priorities

  • Certification in Instructional Design, Learning Media Design or Adult Education a plus
  • Prior people leadership experience a plus to inform design of leader programs

Responsibilities

  • Learning Experience Design: Responsible for designing and developing evidence-based learning and leadership development solutions using blended learning and adult learning principles. The Senior ID follows the “ADDIE” process to create engaging learning content including self-led programs, e-learning, videos, Quick Reference Guides (QRG’s) and instructional guides.
  • Fosters Innovation and Continuous Improvement: Researches and recommends new techniques, tools, and technologies to address complex learner and business needs. The role fosters innovation by identifying opportunities for program enhancements, incorporating external insights, and researching industry trends to inform continuous improvement. Leads the development of models, methods, tools, and technologies to enhance associate learning for business impact.
  • Content Development and Management: Designs and develops high-quality learning solutions by leveraging expertise in instructional design, graphic art, digital audio and video recording/editing. Regularly conducts content audits and gap analyses to identify opportunities for updates and improvements. Ensures learning materials are accurate, current, relevant and aligned with organizational goals while maintaining quality and relevance. The individual will manage complex projects and continually explore innovative methods to enhance learning outcomes.
  • Collaboration and Strategic Partnerships: Collaborates with business leaders, P&C Business Partners, subject-matter experts (SMEs), vendors, and teammates on the Enterprise L&D team to ensure learning initiatives align with Zelis’ policies and strategic priorities. Identifies and manages relationships with third-party vendors to support L&D programs. Engages with vendors to establish and implement curriculum; monitors and assesses effectiveness of vendor developed programs.
  • Technology and Tools: Leverages AI, Workday Learning, Articulate, WalkMe, Vyond and/or other platforms to design and optimize learning solutions.
  • Program and Project Management: Responsible for the success of Enterprise Learning Programs by applying sound project management principles to execute and monitor program goals. Tracks project milestones, manages deliverables, and ensures timely, accurate results on assigned projects and assignments. Identifies process improvements and continuously improves them. Proposes new programs to support future development needs and manages the development of programs including the creation of project plans for new and existing L&D programs, scoping, needs analysis, action item allocations, maintaining calendar of events, resourcing, and setting program metrics.
  • Learning Administration/Logistics/Reporting: Partner with other in Enterprise Learning and Development on logistics for learning sessions, including scheduling, communications, in-person logistics and virtual session production (e.g., Zoom, breakout rooms, polls, materials). Participate in L&D program budget planning and ensures programs adhere to budgetary limits. Prepare reports on L&D programs, measuring performance against goals and recommending improvements as needed. Administer assessments (e.g., DiSC, LVI 360), digital badging, and other evaluation tools. Support onboarding and learning program data requests, leveraging Workday reporting to identify trends and opportunities. Stay current with industry trends and best practices, championing a culture of learning across the organization. Perform other related duties as assigned.
