About The Position

The Senior Counsel will work with colleagues in the Corporate section of a large corporate law department in a publicly traded, international energy company and will provide legal advice and services to the Finance/Treasury department (including Treasury/Cash Management, Tax, and Insurance) on a variety of matters

Requirements

  • Legally authorized to work in the United States
  • Juris Doctorate degree from a law school accredited by the American Bar Association
  • Admission to the Bar of the State of Texas or other appropriate jurisdiction
  • 7 or more years of legal experience with corporate matters

Nice To Haves

  • Intermediate level of proficiency providing legal advice and services in connection with corporate financings commonly undertaken by a large international company
  • Intermediate level of knowledge of securities laws
  • Ability to exercise judgment and discretion regarding confidential and sensitive matters
  • Excellent negotiation, presentation, collaboration and diplomacy skills
  • Mature judgment and discretion- Ability to manage and prioritize assignments which may be broad in scope and complexity and which involve collaborative work with employees in different departments and/or with varying degrees of seniority
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to work well under pressure, meet deadlines and function independently without extensive supervision
  • Ability to learn quickly and apply company policies, procedures, operations and industry practices
  • Ability to easily and effectively communicate with Legal management and internal business clients
