International of Alabama is seeking a Senior Lead Controls Engineer to interface with fellow engineers, maintenance and production staff to support production on our T14 Transmission Assembly Line. Responsibilities include day-to-day production support, process improvements, design and implementation of controls systems, network, and power distribution for current assembly lines. The Huntsville facility runs a 4x10 production schedule (Mon-Thurs, 6:30AM - 5:00PM). This role will support production and may need to cover production recovery times including Fridays and weekends as needed.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree and at least 5 years of product manufacturing experience and at least 1 year of lead experience
Master's degree and at least 3 years of product manufacturing experience and at least 1 year of lead experience
At least 8 years of product manufacturing experience and at least 1 year of lead experience
Qualified candidates, excluding current employees, must be legally authorized on an unrestricted basis (US Citizen, Legal Permanent Resident, Refugee or Asylee) to be employed in the United States. We do not anticipate providing employment related work sponsorship for this position (e.g., H-1B status)

Nice To Haves

Hands-on experience with PLC programming (Allen-Bradley, Siemens, etc.)
Experience working with HMI and/or SCADA platforms
Experience with industrial robotic programming (e.g., FANUC, ABB, KUKA, Yaskawa), including setup, teaching, and troubleshooting
Strong troubleshooting mindset with the ability to work independently
Solid communication skills and ability to work across teams
Experience with vision systems (Fanuc IRVision, Keyence, and Cognex etc)
Experience with setting up and modifying SQL databases
MES (manufacturing execution systems) controls is a plus
Experience with AGVs (Automated Guided Vehicles)
Experience designing and installing medium and low voltage power distribution systems
Willing to travel internationally

Responsibilities

Establishes programs and solutions for increasing uptime and for equipment problems that affect the manufacturing process.
Provide cross functional troubleshooting support to production lines.
Design, program, and implement control systems for industrial automation projects
Develop and modify Siemens PLC logic, HMI interfaces, and SCADA systems
Diagnose and resolve control system issues to minimize downtime
Create and maintain clear documentation for system designs and updates
Evaluates, selects, and orders equipment that is most appropriate and cost effective for the manufacture of company products.
Oversees the development, installation, modification, upgrade, and maintenance of manufacturing equipment.
Maintains current records on equipment manufacturers' technical notices, upgrades and safety issues.
Studies equipment performance and reliability.
Provides technical support to the manufacturing equipment repair and process engineering organizations.
May instruct, coach, or provide informal guidance to other professionals or colleagues with less experience
