About The Position

International Corporation is a leading North American truck manufacturer with a 175-year commitment to customer satisfaction. The company is rededicated to strengthening its core businesses through recent investments and product launches. International of Alabama is seeking a 2nd shift Senior Lead Controls Engineer to interface with fellow engineers, maintenance, and production staff to support production on the T14 Transmission Assembly Line. This role's responsibilities include day-to-day production support, process improvements, and the design and implementation of controls systems, network, and power distribution for current assembly lines. The working hours are Monday - Thursday: 7:30 PM - 6 PM, with training taking place on the 1st shift. This role will support production and may need to cover production recovery times, including Fridays and weekends as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and at least 5 years of product manufacturing experience
  • At least 1 year of lead experience
  • OR Master's degree and at least 3 years of product manufacturing experience
  • At least 1 year of lead experience
  • OR At least 8 years of product manufacturing experience
  • At least 1 year of lead experience
  • Qualified candidates, excluding current employees, must be legally authorized on an unrestricted basis (US Citizen, Legal Permanent Resident, Refugee or Asylee) to be employed in the United States.

Nice To Haves

  • Hands-on experience with Siemens PLC programming
  • Experience working with HMI and/or SCADA platforms
  • Strong troubleshooting mindset with the ability to work independently
  • Solid communication skills and ability to work across teams
  • Experience with vision systems (Fanuc IRVision, Keyence, and Cognex etc)
  • Experience with setting up and modifying SQL databases
  • MES (manufacturing execution systems) controls is a plus
  • Experience with AGVs (Automated Guided Vehicles)
  • Experience designing and installing medium and low voltage power distribution systems
  • Willing to travel internationally

Responsibilities

  • Establishes programs and solutions for increasing uptime and for equipment problems that affect the manufacturing process.
  • Provide cross functional troubleshooting support to production lines.
  • Design, program, and implement control systems for industrial automation projects.
  • Develop and modify Siemens PLC logic, HMI interfaces, and SCADA systems.
  • Diagnose and resolve control system issues to minimize downtime.
  • Create and maintain clear documentation for system designs and updates.
  • Evaluates, selects, and orders equipment that is most appropriate and cost effective for the manufacture of company products.
  • Oversees the development, installation, modification, upgrade, and maintenance of manufacturing equipment.
  • Maintains current records on equipment manufacturers' technical notices, upgrades and safety issues.
  • Studies equipment performance and reliability.
  • Provides technical support to the manufacturing equipment repair and process engineering organizations.
  • May instruct, coach, or provide informal guidance to other professionals or colleagues with less experience.
