Under general supervision, performs work of considerable difficulty in the field of community corrections with juvenile offenders. The Senior Juvenile Counselor must be capable of performing all the general duties of a Juvenile Counselor. In addition, the Senior Juvenile counselor will assist with training and mentoring new officers and facilitating groups. The Senior Juvenile Counselor will utilize counseling skills, oversee, process, record, evaluate and make recommendations on all incoming referrals and/or juveniles held in attention. Hours of Work The position requires shift work consisting of working weekends, holidays, evenings, nights, and overtime. All duties as delineated in the Juvenile Counselor Job Description apply. Conducts preliminary conferences with juveniles and their families. Prepares summaries with recommendations for court intervention. Assumes additional duties on a current and continuing basis. Serves as trainer/mentor. Works with management to help improve policies, procedures, and standards. Forms productive and constructive relationships with clients, judiciary, staff, management, and ancillary agencies. Participates in stakeholder and probation committees as needed.
