We are looking for a Senior Storage and Backup Engineer to manage and enhance our advanced storage and backup systems. In this role, you will lead the architecture, engineering, and support of Honeywell’s storage and backup environments as part of the Enterprise Compute Infrastructure team. Your responsibilities will include gathering requirements, helping design, recommending, and implementing on-premises and cloud storage solutions. Expertise is required in technologies like NetApp, Nasuni for cloud-based storage, VAST for block storage, and Rubrik for backup solutions. You’ll also identify opportunities to optimize existing systems to increase reliability and availability and regularly participate in Disaster Recovery exercises. Experience with tools such as ServiceNow and Splunk is necessary, as well as working with automation platforms like CHEF or Tanium.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in a technical discipline such as science, technology, engineering, mathematics
  • Minimum of 8 years of SAN and Network Attached Storage (NAS) systems experience on NetApp Storage in an enterprise environment. Also having experience in cloud-based storage such as Nasuni.
  • Minimum of 8 years of enterprise backup technology such as Rubrik including maintaining and troubleshooting large (2000 or more clients) mission critical installations across multiple locations and performing recovery as needed within SLA.
  • Expertise in cloud data protection and storage solutions, particularly with GCP, AWS and Microsoft Azure.
  • Experience with major backup solutions, especially Rubrik, and an understanding of cloud-based backup services.
  • Capacity planning, performance optimization experience
  • Experience with supporting mission critical infrastructure operations
  • Familiarity with IT Service Management tools such as ServiceNow and having experience with monitoring and reporting using Splunk.
  • Knowledge of networking concepts and protocols (TCP/IP, VPN, NFS/SMB/CIFS/SCSI).
  • Experience with Installation, Racking & Stacking of Hardware both for Storage and Backup Devices.
  • Creation and maintenance of runbook and standards documentation management and audit support.
  • Experience in automation using CHEF or Tanium.
  • Proficient in scripting for automation (PowerShell, Python, Bash).
  • Ability to travel approximately 15%

Responsibilities

  • Storage Management: Oversee the architecture, engineering, and support of on-premises and cloud-based storage solutions such as NetApp and Nasuni.
  • Backup Solutions : Implement and manage robust backup strategies utilizing Rubrik CDM and Rubrik Security Cloud.
  • Performance Optimization: Monitor, troubleshoot, and enhance the performance of SAN and NAS environments.
  • Capacity Planning: Assist in planning for future storage capacity requirements and optimize current infrastructures along with the on-boarding of sites to be incorporated into the DCN support model and manage projects within support of these activities.
  • Influential regarding technology roadmaps related to storage and backup technologies.
  • Disaster Recovery: Participate in regular disaster recovery exercises to ensure data integrity and availability.
  • Optimization: Provide oversite of Honeywell IT in storage platform optimization, monitoring and lifecycle management. Facilitate moving of workloads to/from on-prem cloud to off-prem cloud.
  • Collaboration : Work closely with cross-functional teams to support application and infrastructure-related issues.
  • Project Management: Lead projects for onboarding sites into support models and manage related activities.
  • Professional Expectations: Available for on-call and weekend maintenance, Coordinate with vendors for support and hardware needs, collaborate across IT teams to align storage with organizational goals
