About The Position

This position requires full-time in-person work in Perry Hall, MD. We are seeking a detail-oriented and service-driven Benefits & Payroll Specialist to join our Human Resources team. This role is responsible for administering the Bank's health and welfare benefits, 401(k) retirement plan, payroll, and HR compliance functions. As the primary administrator for our HRIS, payroll, and benefits systems, you'll be a key resource for employees and external vendors, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and a positive employee experience.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Human Resources, or related field (or equivalent professional experience).
  • 3–5 years of professional Human Resources experience, including 2+ years in benefits administration and 2+ years in payroll processing.
  • Experience with HRIS, payroll, and benefits systems in an administrator role.
  • In-depth knowledge of benefits, payroll, and employment laws and regulations.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • High level of professionalism, integrity, and confidentiality.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and cloud-based collaboration tools (e.g., Microsoft Teams).

Nice To Haves

  • PHR or SHRM-CP certification preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Administer health and welfare benefits, including enrollment, coverage questions, and qualifying event changes.
  • Lead annual benefits renewal and open enrollment processes.
  • Manage wellness program initiatives across the organization.
  • Oversee leave administration (FMLA, disability, PTO) and Workers' Compensation.
  • Process bi-weekly payroll, ensuring accuracy and compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Serve as the primary administrator for HRIS, payroll, and benefits systems; liaise with third-party vendors.
  • Prepare and file compliance reports (EEO-1, VETS 4212, ACA, Affirmative Action Plans, 401(k) testing).
  • Lead data gathering for audits and serve as point of contact for auditors.
  • Act as SAFE Act Program Administrator.
  • Cross train and provide support to all functional areas of Human Resources as needed.
