UniTech is seeking a reliable and hardworking Sr. Health Physics Technician. ORSC's core business is the processing of Low-Level Radioactive Waste. Requirements

  • Must be 21 years of age or older.
  • High school and/or GED equivalent is required.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Prior experience working in Nuclear Power Facilities, DOE Laboratories, Other Radiological Licensed Facilities.
  • Prior experience as a Sr. HP.
  • Qualify as technician according to the ANSI/ANS-3.1 Standard, “Selection, Qualification and Training of Personnel for Nuclear Power Plants,” or equivalent, as approved by RPM and/or RSO.
  • Ability to work independently and resolve practical problems.
  • Ability to work well with others.
  • Ability to operate equipment.
  • Possess a general knowledge in the use of a variety of radiation monitoring instruments.
  • Knowledgeable in the Periodic Table of the Elements and the Chart of the Nuclides.
  • Proficient in MS Excel and Word.
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time and lift up to 50lbs in a non-climate-controlled building on a concrete floor.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience utilizing a Gamma Spectroscopy system is preferred.
  • NRRPT credentials are preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate radiological conditions and job coverage.
  • Conduct air sampling and routine facility surveys.
  • Maintain unrestricted radiological release surveys and techniques.
  • Provide detailed recordkeeping
  • Characterization of radioactive materials to determine disposal pathway using appropriate instrumentation.
  • Proper operation and maintenance of radiological control equipment.
  • Ensure compliance with company, location, state and federal radiation safety policies and regulations.
  • Other duties as assigned.
