About The Position

Founded in 2000, Plaza Home Mortgage, Inc. is a privately owned, full-service national lender, offering Wholesale, Correspondent, Renovation and Reverse residential mortgages. Headquartered in San Diego, California, Plaza employs a network of sales associates to serve its clients nationwide. Plaza is dedicated to building quality, long-term relationships with its mortgage broker and correspondent clients by offering comprehensive programs and exceptional customer experience. Responsible for coordination of loan closing packages, including issuance of funds, closing instructions, etc. necessary to ensure the marketability of loans and in compliance with company, FNMA, FHLMC, FHA, VA, USDA, investor and industry standards and regulations.

Requirements

  • Current knowledge of the mortgage banking industry (specifically regulations covering FHA, VA, FNMA, & FHLMC & USDA)
  • Must be self reliant as a closer with robust product knowledge and experience
  • Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Exceptional attention to detail with the ability to consistently produce accurate work, the ability to manage time, multi-task, and prioritize work in a high paced environment with heavy volume of transactions
  • Solid commitment to customer and employee service, outstanding interpersonal and problem solving skills
  • Ability to work in both a team and individual environment.
  • Incumbent must be able to use independent judgment skills to make quick decisions within written policy and standard operating procedures, have working knowledge of loan program products and services, policies, and requirements of a HUD regulated lending institution and have the ability to monitor and oversee loan production pipelines.
  • Proficient with MS Office Suite, particularly Word, Excel, and Outlook and internet browers
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent, college degree preferred

Responsibilities

  • Perform data entry into various pre-funding Quality Assurance systems such as MERS on day of funding, FraudGuard, Compliance Eagle and IRS 4506-T vendor.
  • Review final conditions provided to determine they meet requirements and either sign off or recondition if not satisfactory
  • Coordinate with Underwriter on conditions they may need to review
  • When all conditions are met and escrow is ready to fund, update DataTrac conditions, interest, funding date, wire info and impounds, check fees for accuracy and request wire in system.
  • Validate estimated HUD-1 used for funding for compliance requirements
  • Run a tape to verify wire is correct and loan balances, double check all fees for accuracy
  • Send Funding Figures to Escrow Agent and confirm they balance.
  • Maintain efficient file flow and closing review processes.
  • Assist in developing process improvements and efficiencies as an ongoing best practice.
  • Have a working knowledge of RESPA and other Federal, State, and industry compliance requirements.
  • Index all closing packages into loan file record and enter shipping received date upon completion.
  • Send follow-up documentation to Corporate Departments if requested.
  • Review final HUD-1 if received in branch
  • Review of other closers loan documents and funding files as needed.
  • Assist Branch Operations and Underwriting as required.
  • Other duties as assigned
