The Senior Fuel Systems Technician is responsible for the maintenance, repair, and compliance of fuel dispensing equipment, underground storage tanks (USTs), and related systems across multiple retail locations. This role serves as a technical lead, ensuring all fueling systems operate safely, efficiently, and in accordance with environmental and regulatory requirements.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required; technical certification or vocational training preferred.
  • Minimum 5+ years of experience working with fuel systems in a retail, convenience store, or commercial fueling environment.
  • In-depth knowledge of petroleum systems, including USTs, dispensers, sensors, and alarms.
  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
  • Strong organizational and troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to work independently and travel between locations as needed.
  • OSHA and HAZMAT certification preferred.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with Veeder-Root, Gilbarco, and Wayne systems a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Perform advanced diagnostics, repairs, and preventive maintenance on fuel dispensers, USTs, leak detection systems, and vapor recovery units.
  • Lead or assist in the installation and upgrade of fueling systems and associated technology.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert and mentor to junior technicians.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations regarding fueling systems and hazardous materials.
  • Maintain accurate records of repairs, inspections, and compliance testing.
  • Coordinate with external vendors and regulatory agencies during site visits and audits.
  • Respond to emergency service calls and troubleshoot system issues in a timely manner.
  • Monitor fuel system performance and recommend proactive upgrades or replacements.
  • Provide support during site construction, tank testing, and permitting processes.
