About The Position

The Senior Forward Deployed Engineer (FDE) is a senior, client-facing technical expert who serves as a true strategic partner for our most complex and high-value accounts. This is not a sprint; it's a marathon. This role is for the "marathon runner and a strategist" - an individual motivated by solving deep, intricate challenges and building unshakable, long-term relationships. You will be the primary technical advocate for the client, often "embedded" within their environment to ensure they extract maximum value from the RapidSOS platform. You are a patient, proactive, and consultative guide. You will help clients navigate their most ambitious technical "moonshot" projects, architecting and co-developing novel solutions that have never been built before. Your success is measured not by tickets closed, but by the long-term success, adoption, and expansion of the client partnership you foster.

Requirements

  • Strong Technical Background: At least 5+ years of relevant experience in an engineering role with at least 3+ of those years in a technical customer-facing role.
  • Pre-sales Experience: Selling complex API-based products or SaaS products including technical discovery, presenting demos, etc.
  • Cloud Knowledge: Familiarity with a cloud platform (AWS, GCP, Azure) in a SaaS environment.
  • A Marathon Runner and a Strategist: You are patient, proactive, and motivated by the long-term pursuit of solving complex, deep challenges. You value building trusted, enduring relationships over quick wins.
  • Deep Technical Mastery: You have a "specialist" and "perfectionist" mindset. You possess the desire and proven ability to go incredibly deep, mastering both our platform and the client's complex environment.
  • Consultative & Diagnostic Mindset: You are an elite problem-solver. You are an exceptional listener who is wired to diagnose the root cause of a problem, not just treat the symptoms.

  • Travel Flexibility: Ability to travel 20%-30% of the time

Responsibilities

  • Act as the primary, embedded technical owner and trusted advisor for a portfolio of strategic clients, building deep, long-term relationships from the engineer level to the C-suite.
  • Develop unparalleled technical mastery of both the RapidSOS intelligent safety platform and your client's specific, complex technical ecosystem.
  • Lead complex diagnostic sessions, using elite listening skills to identify the root cause of technical challenges, not just the symptoms.
  • Architect, design, and co-develop novel solutions to solve unique client challenges, turning ambitious "moonshot" ideas into reality.
  • Move beyond reactive support by proactively analyzing client systems, anticipating future needs, and developing a strategic technical roadmap for long-term success.
  • Build and maintain deep trust through patience, empathy, and savvy political navigation of complex client organizations.
  • Identify and scope new expansion opportunities from your position of trust, demonstrating how RapidSOS can deliver further value to grow the account.
  • Serve as the client's technical advocate within RapidSOS, collaborating with Product, Engineering, and other internal teams to ensure their needs are met and their voice is heard.
