The COMET contract provides overall management and implementation of ground systems capabilities, flight hardware processing, and launch operations at NASA's Kennedy Space Center (KSC) in Florida. These tasks will support the International Space Station, Ground Systems Development and Operations, and the Space Launch System, Orion Multi-Purpose Crew Vehicle, and Launch Services programs. Overall Leader of assigned Facility/Flight element processing team representing the COMET Program Integration Office as a key leader for area assigned, driving operations excellence and leading communication and coordination activities across the program(s) This position requires heavy emphasis on schedule management - Leads cross-directorate teams to develop and implement executable schedules; Chairs system reviews developing long range schedules for element(s) assigned; Leads advanced planning for long range mission schedule development and mission manifests Drives Operational excellence, coordinating across various NASA, COMET and Cross Contractor/OEM organizations to assure proper planning, resource allocation, operational priorities, readiness and support of ground and flight system processing activities. Responsible for operations schedule performance to plan with emphasis on critical path and resource management (i.e. Technician, Engineering, S&MA) Relied upon by NASA and COMET organizational leadership as the Ops resident expert for area assigned Chairs/co-chairs daily scheduling meetings for assigned processing area of responsibility; Provides processing status at various senior management meetings and forums Attend various control boards and processing forums as required to provide inputs and obtain information concerning processing activities. Drives compliance with company operational and safety procedures, policies, and plans Coordinates lessons learned efforts with NASA for specific processing events to ensure continuous improvement and efficiency opportunities are captured for future missions Performs other related duties as required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or technical equivalent from accredited college or university and at least ten (10) years of relevant experience required. Additional relevant education may be substituted for a portion of the experience.
  • Must have direct experience with developing and integrating detailed plans/schedules for complex projects.
  • Experience with Primavera or similar scheduling software and integrated schedule management
  • Experience managing multiple projects and Ops priorities.
  • Excellent organizational, verbal and written communication skills
  • Must be dependable and punctual.
  • Possess ability to brief ops status to leadership and direct the work of others.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision and only general guidance.
  • In-depth experience with Microsoft Office
  • Must have the ability to maintain and retain security clearance
  • Must be able to travel to support position requirements. This may include travel to and from customer location, which may involve airline travel. In some cases, accommodations can be made for POV, if necessary.
  • Grooming and dress must be appropriate for the position and must not impose a safety risk/hazard to the employee or others.
  • Must comply with all “drug free workplace” requirements as mandated by directives issued by the appropriate federal contracting officer and the company, which requires drug testing for use of illegal drugs by employees in sensitive positions.
  • Government security clearance may be required in the future.
  • Must maintain a positive work atmosphere by behaving and communicating in a manner that fosters good relations with customers, clients, co-workers, and management.
  • Position may involve extended periods of sitting or standing.
  • Physical requirements are: sitting, walking, standing, extensive use of stairs, and access to remote structures.
  • Position is located on a hazardous testing facility; must be able to quickly evacuate buildings in the event of an emergency.
  • Work will mainly be done inside, but fieldwork can be a combination of outside and inside depending on the project.
  • Working at heights and in confined spaces may be required.
  • Walking on uneven terrain including paved areas, gravel/rocks, and dirt/sand is required to access various locations on the facility.
  • Climbing ladders and platforms will be necessary.
  • All work must be completed in a safe manner in accordance with NASA and Company safety standards.
  • Computers and printers used for producing reports and schedules.
  • Variety of software tools used in performing research (i.e. Milestone Professional, Primavera, Microsoft Project, Microsoft Office, Power BI).
  • Full-time regular work hours between Monday-Friday.
  • Position may often require overtime, including off-shift and weekend work depending on tasks assigned and management direction.
