Position Overview The Senior Financial Services Technical Lead plays a critical role on Nationwide Financial’s Advisory New Business (NB) Team, supporting the onboarding and administration of advisory annuity products from application through funding. This team specializes in advisory-focused products and processes that originated with the Jefferson National acquisition and has since expanded to support additional Nationwide advisory offerings, including Monument Advisor and NARIA. In this role, you will serve as a subject matter expert, workflow leader, and coach for a team of approximately 10 associates responsible for end-to-end new business processing. You will partner closely with internal stakeholders including Sales, Quality Control, Financial Operations, IT, and peer Technical Leads to ensure accuracy, efficiency, and an excellent experience for internal customers. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys leading through influence, improving processes, and helping teams successfully navigate change in a highly regulated, detail-driven environment.

Requirements

  • Technical & Analytical Skills: Strong technical aptitude with workflow and case management systems (e.g., OnBase, CIS), ability to analyze error trends, monitor metrics, and support operational improvements.
  • Leadership & Communication: Proven ability to coach others, speak confidently on behalf of a team, deliver clear guidance, and partner effectively across departments.
  • Mindset & Work Style: Process-oriented, proactive, and adaptable; someone who takes initiative, embraces change, and enjoys improving how work gets done in a fast-paced environment.
  • This position will be hired on a hybrid, SuccessFlex basis. The hired associate must reside within 35 miles of the following location(s): Ohio: 1000 Yard St, Grandview Heights, OH, 43212
  • Work schedule: 2 days in office, 3 days remote
  • It is our intention to fill this role in Columbus, OH. However, on occasion, applications from internal candidates working remotely who bring critical industry skills and relevant experience may be considered.
  • This role does not qualify for employer-sponsored work authorization.
  • Nationwide does not participate in the Stem OPT Extension program.

Responsibilities

  • Lead daily work distribution and execution by monitoring volumes, assigning work in OnBase and related systems, tracking service levels, and ensuring time and quality standards are consistently met.
  • Serve as a technical and process expert for advisory new business operations, including application review, underwriting coordination, documentation validation, fund application, internal transfers, and exception handling.
  • Coach, mentor, and develop associates through one-on-one feedback, quality reviews, error analysis, and ongoing performance discussions, with a strong focus on accuracy, productivity, and professional growth.
  • Drive training and change readiness by developing procedures, job aids, and training materials (including videos) related to new products, systems, policy updates, and IT releases.
  • Collaborate cross‑functionally with IT, Sales, Quality Control, Financial Operations, BRMs, and other Nationwide Financial teams to resolve issues, improve processes, and represent the Advisory NB team in meetings and projects.
