About The Position

As the Senior Financial Reporting Accountant, you will lead the preparation of statutory financial statements and related analyses for both internal and external stakeholders. You will interpret complex accounting guidance, provide informed recommendations, and contribute to special projects involving financial analysis or organizational changes driven by senior leadership. This role requires strong judgment, extensive experience, and the ability to manage a wide range of sophisticated tasks with minimal supervision. You may oversee the work of others, and the position offers significant autonomy, creativity, and latitude in how responsibilities are carried out. Work Arrangement: Employees who live within 30 miles of the TMG home office are expected to follow a hybrid or in-office schedule. The initial training period may require additional in‑office days.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree Accounting, Finance, or equivalent experience.
  • Four to six years work experience in insurance accounting.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the preparation of monthly statutory financial statements and analysis, including an in-depth understanding of the inter-company pooling agreement and how it operates.
  • Responsible for the preparation of statutory quarterly and annual statements along with supplemental filings (IEE's, Combined Annual Statement).
  • Responsible for the preparation of statutory audit report and assists independent auditors as needed.
  • Responsible for the preparation of monthly journal entries and account reconciliations in support of the monthly close process.
  • Responsible for assisting and/or performing assessment of risks and internal controls over financial reporting in alignment with the Company's internal control framework.
  • Keeps abreast of current developments in the statutory accounting and insurance industry.
  • Research technical accounting issues and documents recommendations in white paper format.
  • Other duties assigned by Manager, Director, or CFO.
