About The Position

One of the region’s largest orthopedic and sports medicine providers, Orlando Health Jewett Orthopedic Institute’s world-class team of orthopedic surgeons and sports medicine physicians specialize in conditions and injuries of the spine, hand, upper extremities, foot, ankle and lower extremities, as well as joint replacement, concussions, interventional pain management, bone health and orthopedic trauma. Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent. Typing speed of 60 wpm required. Proficient in word processing, spreadsheet, presentation and/or database software, preferably Microsoft Office-based products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access).
  • Three (3) years clerical or secretarial experience or one year clerical or secretarial experience and two years Patient Accounting experience

Responsibilities

  • Answers phone calls, routes callers, takes messages and resolves routine and some complex inquiries.
  • Screens calls and visitors, distributes incoming mail and orders supplies.
  • Establishes and maintains personnel, vendor, and managed care contract files and records on an ongoing basis.
  • Schedules and maintains calendar of appointments.
  • Organizes meetings including distributing materials, arranging for refreshments, transcribing minutes and making travel arrangements if necessary.
  • Works independently on special projects.
  • Composes and types routine and non-routine correspondence, reports, special projects, technical papers, etc.
  • Creates, prepares and coordinates presentations, including charts, graphs, etc.
  • Creates and maintains databases and spreadsheets.
  • May assist in preparing and/or monitoring budget and monthly invoicing/expense information.
  • Works with sensitive employee information and confidential organization information.
  • Interacts professionally with all levels of management.
  • Telephone insurance carrier/patients to seek resolution on account
  • Negotiate within specified guidelines with patients
  • Review VIP accounts, including the patient's financial account history, credit report(s), Guarantor Financial Statement Application (GFSA) and eligibility for local/state/federal assistance programs. Complete issue resolution is expected.
