About The Position

Summary The FP&A function provides senior management with forward looking projections and analysis of F&G’s financial results and operating performance, connecting strategic objectives to performance. The FP&A team makes a significant contribution to the successful setting of F&G financial targets and the ultimate achievement of them. They also enable management to credibly communicate with external stakeholders. The FP&A team partners to bring together all of the work of the deeply technical teams across finance, actuarial, investments, reinsurance and the lines of business to deliver value-added business analysis and metrics in support of enterprise-wide decision making. This team has a comprehensive understanding of all key business performance drivers and sophisticated financial models. The Senior Financial Analyst is largely an individual contributor role in the FP&A team and may also directly manage an intern in the team. The FP&A team is responsible for ownership and execution of leading, scalable financial forecasts & analysis to deliver an integrated, full-service performance cycle to public company standards. This role is pivotal in attaining this objective through its active partnership and focus on developing relationships across finance and actuarial departments. The Senior Financial Analyst performs complex financial analysis, project or advisory work as needed by the team. This role also identifies opportunities for process improvement, proposes and implements solutions. This role is accountable for its own work product and understands the impacts of deliverables. The Senior Financial Analyst is responsible for setting prioritization for own work and using discretion to make decisions within delegated authority. This role requires critical thinking in asking questions, researching and resolving requests and issues Organization This position reports to the Director, FP&A and will interact with multiple teams throughout the company, including but not limited to financial reporting, actuarial, investments, reinsurance and capital.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree required with preference in Accounting/Finance or other relevant degree.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in related field or combination of experience with a professional designation (CPA, CFA, CIA, CISA, etc.) considered.
  • Good understanding of functional area.
  • Experience with projections, general ledgers, databases and report writing is desired.
  • Strong understanding of current processes and overall workflow of accounting.
  • Ability to identify and implement process improvements, internal control enhancements, automation and efficiencies.
  • Ability to independently learn proficiency in financial systems with the tools and coaching provided.
  • Ability to brainstorm, research and provide possible solutions to ad hoc questions from the functional area’s business partners.
  • Ability to perform analysis and challenge the outcome against expected results.
  • Strong written and verbal communication, organization and interpersonal skills necessary to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
  • Ability to handle multiple complex tasks and prioritize in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Self-directed individual who works well with team.
  • Ability to support a culture of financial transparency and continuous improvement.

Nice To Haves

  • Insurance industry experience preferred.
  • Professional designation in related field preferred (CPA, CFA, CIA, CISA, etc.).
  • Knowledge of annuity and life insurance products preferred.

Responsibilities

  • This position is responsible for supporting and executing leading, financial projections & analysis.
  • Support robust and complex financial forecasting, financial analysis and ad hoc deliverables.
  • Synthesize concepts, which are diverse, require judgement and guided by outcomes, principles, and standards to create analysis & explanations that are clear, concise and credible.
  • Analyze financial performance, identifying trends, risks, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Prepare high quality, timely and accurate variance analysis and forecasts from beginning to end including and adhering to timelines to complete.
  • Harness technology to drive automation and efficiencies.
  • Assist inproduction and distribution of FP&A forecasts and analysis, considering material nonpublic information (MNPI) requirements.
  • Support culture of financial transparency and continuous improvement by implementing solutions and leading projects.
  • The position will support other FP&A deliveries, serving as an additional liaison between other Finance teams to ensure a holistic and consistent delivery model.
  • Partner with Financial Reporting on deliverables and dependencies.
  • Provide Tax team deliverables for provisioning and projections.
  • Provide Capital & Ratings Management team deliverables for rating agency.
