A Day in the Life This position serves as a key member of the Global Operations and Supply Chain FP&A team, leading and coaching the Cardiovascular Strategic Cost team with the mission to for understanding Gross Margin drivers and enabling sustainable gross margin expansion while adding value through superior decision support for our Finance business partners. This role is critical to deliver on the financial commitments and will work closely with GOSC and OU business partners. The successful candidate will be responsible for setting strategic direction for the organization to better understand gross margin drivers and establish operating mechanisms with key business partners to help coordinate efforts across the teams. Requirements

  • Requires a Baccalaureate degree and minimum of 7 years of relevant experience with 5+ years of managerial experience, or advanced degree with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience with 5+ years of managerial experience.

Responsibilities

  • Strategic Financial Leadership Develop a deep understanding product costs and key drivers of cost Gather and summarize data to highlight gross margin trends Create operating mechanisms to bring cross functional teams together to collaborate and align strategies Manage prioritization of deliverables across multiple teams and stakeholders
  • Functional Excellence and Business Partnering Own and lead OU presentation of Gross Margin analysis, KPIs, functional performance commentary, and forecasting to various levels of management Proactive business partnering with stakeholders in the analysis of trends and anomalies in results Partner cross functionally in support of the AOP and quarterly forecasts, to ensure cost down targets, strategic initiatives are clearly understood and consistently applied Work with OUs and Portfolios to increase visibility to cost drivers within the cost pools and help identify opportunities for cost savings
  • Team Management Lead and coach a global team of 2-3 Finance professionals of varying levels and backgrounds focusing on high quality and impactful deliverables, while enhancing operational excellence and critical mass to the organization Set strategic direction to the team and allocate work across the team to capitalize on individual strengths and provide individuals with development opportunities while ensuring a balanced workload Demonstrate and promote Medtronic Mindset culture in words and actions (Act Boldly, Compete to Win, Move with Speed and Decisiveness, Foster Belonging, Deliver Results the Right Way).
  • Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned. Performs and analyzes financial modeling, economic research, trends and studies subjects such as rates of return, depreciation, working capital, cash flow, investments, and cost against budget, variance analysis, forecasting, financial planning and expense comparisons by analysis of profit and loss statements and/or income statements. Prepares reports of findings and recommendations, compiles and consolidates financial plans and provides insights to management. Develops, maintains, and establishes operational specifications for financial information systems considering such things as information flow, volume, ad hoc reporting, and analysis. May provide analysis on business development and may monitor business performance by unit, division or group.
