About The Position

Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Sr Facilities Project Manager for the Division of Institutional Planning & Operations (IP&O). Under the guidance of the Director of Project Services, leads a team of professionals, including the University client, architectural and engineering consultants, Project Specialist(s), Rutgers Environmental Health & Safety, OUPD , and commissioning agents for capital construction projects from the inception through occupancy. A challenging role, this position requires a person who can deliver a project that is within scope, budget, and schedule parameters, with a myriad of team players. The simultaneous coordination and execution of multiple projects is expected, requiring an organized individual who can anticipate project needs and maintain effective communication with all parties throughout the process. Orchestrates the successful initiation of complex projects by convening all necessary participants, including OUPD , REHS , FMS , PS, RU user group(s), and all outside consultants, keeping them well-informed and involved throughout the project. Protects the interests of RU and its client groups to deliver an appropriate project, meeting scope, budget, and scheduling constraints by the timely review of design and construction documentation, contract deliverables, and the monitoring of all such submissions. Interfaces with the commissioning coordinator to ensure RU representation at critical junctures of construction, verifying and intervening as necessary on RUs’ behalf for a complete, fully functioning and successful project. Supervises Project Specialists by effectively communicating and demonstrating all RU requirements and professional skills necessary to orchestrate a successful capital project appropriate, on-time, and within budget. Protects the fiscal interest of RU and its client groups in the delivery of an appropriate project by reviewing capital expenditures with capital planning, by negotiating fair and reasonable prices for all necessary services procured, and by evaluating construction pay requests in a skilled professional manner. Overview The Division of Institutional Planning & Operations (IP&O) employs a workforce of approximately 2,700 staff, represented by 15 collective negotiations agreements, and is responsible for institutional strategic initiatives and operations, which encompasses an expansive range of comprehensive service and business operations across the State of New Jersey. These include planning and construction, facilities, public safety and emergency operations, environmental health and safety, transportation, housing, and auxiliary/retail operations.
