The Facilities Engineer ensures the building, utilities, and infrastructure are safe, reliable, compliant, and ready to support our people and operations—today and into the future.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a steward of the Cedar Rapids facility—ensuring building systems remain safe, reliable, compliant, and fit for purpose.
  • Manage and maintain facility infrastructure systems, including HVAC, compressed air, utility distribution, and other mechanical and building systems.
  • Develop, maintain, and update mechanical, plumbing, and electrical drawings and space plans.
  • Define facility equipment hierarchy, critical spares, and preventative maintenance strategies within the CMMS.
  • Manage outsourced service contracts, including janitorial, waste management, landscaping, grounds maintenance, and other facility-related services.
  • Own and maintain facility security systems, including badging, alarms, access levels, and security protocols.
  • Oversee phone, data, and low-voltage infrastructure in partnership with IT, coordinating installs and modifications.
  • Support facility safety systems and emergency preparedness, partnering with Safety on procedures, drills, and compliance requirements.
  • Monitor and support regulatory compliance in coordination with Safety and Environmental teams (OSHA, EPA, and related agencies).
  • Partner with utility providers on service reliability, maintenance, and conservation initiatives for electrical, gas, and water systems.
  • Support capital projects related to facility improvements, infrastructure upgrades, and equipment installations.
  • Partner with Manufacturing Engineering and Maintenance to ensure production equipment is properly installed, supported by utilities, and integrated into facility systems.
  • Assist in defining Lock Out/Tag Out (LOTO) requirements for facility and production equipment.
  • Act as the facility liaison with contractors, architects, engineers, and vendors for modifications or improvement work.
  • Bring a problem-solving mindset to facility-related issues affecting safety, quality, delivery, or cost.
  • Actively surface opportunities to improve facility reliability, energy efficiency, maintainability, and safety.
