About The Position

A Sr. Executive Onboarding Business Partner’s (EOBP) scope of influence is global and can extend up to SVP-level across all supported organizations. EOBPs regularly interface with, partner with, and influence leaders as it relates to onboarding activities for newly hired executives. This role obsesses over our customer and focuses on details, removing any unnecessary friction and accelerating new hire time to cultural proficiency. The ideal candidate will be someone who can work effectively with both internal partners and external executives, have the flexibility to effectively build and maintain relationships, possess strong judgement and communication skills with all levels within the organization, and be resilient when having to re-prioritize and deliver on the customer needs. This role should expect to support 50+ executive new hires (NH) annually with tailored, high-touch preboarding support, onboarding activities, experiences, and immersion event offerings. Executive Onboarding (EO) creates and fosters onboarding experiences for externally hired executive leaders. EO’s mission is to accelerate the speed to contribution and build confidence in role for new executives. We accomplish this by curating guided learning and development plans which utilize multiple training environments and are anchored in the concepts of Amazon Leadership Principles. EO provides strategic, personalized onboarding and transition support for externally hired executive leaders across Amazon. The team works closely with hiring teams, PXT (HR), talent acquisition leaders, and leaders in individual business lines to design learning experiences intended to increase new executive speed to contribution in role.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Business, Program Management, Human Resources, Employment Law, Computer Science, Finance, Computer Information Systems, Engineering, Operations Research or a related field

Responsibilities

  • Sr. EOBPs create and foster onboarding partnership relationships with each NH from offer acceptance to Day 1 (preboarding), through the first six+ weeks of onboarding (initial onboarding phase) and beyond onboarding, as needed. Relationship building at a concierge-level with each NH is a key element of an EOBP’s role and is vital to the success of NH executives.
  • Sr. EOBPs create and manage partnerships with the NH’s hiring team, PxT team, mentor team, and additional partners, as needed. EOBPs partner closely with all stakeholders involved with a NH’s onboarding and will direct the process of creation of the onboarding experience with these partners. Robust communication, both written and in-person is expected in order to effectively manage all processes and action required from partners and invested teams.
  • Sr. EOBPs continuously drive efficiencies and quality in standard work and processes in order to ensure NHs receive appropriate support and critical information at all points during their onboarding. This role looks to innovate with current tools and partner across the org to discover emerging tools to increase our speed to support for NHs and the quality of information we use to make decisions for the population and program.
  • Sr. EOBPs work across adjacent organizations and will influence business decisions in these orgs as they relate to executive onboarding. This role partners closely with Executive Recruiting, PxT, DEI, Learning and Dev teams, work authorization teams, and adjacent onboarding teams for all orgs which EO supports onboarding within.
  • Sr. EOBPs utilize data as a north star for decision making. This role is expected to be proficient with understanding how EO collects data, which types of data are critical for the program to track, how EO utilizes surveys and touchpoints with respect to data, and how to interpret this data to make informed decisions for iterative and/or Think Big program changes.
  • Sr. EOBPs think big and are end-to-end owners of long term and high impact team and/or cross-functional projects. This role understands that it is always Day 1 in onboarding and so creates and executes big and small bets for change, evolution, expansion, and partnership.
  • Sr. EOBPs effectively plan and facilitate team dynamics sessions based on a NH’s unique needs within their new team. This role partners with PxT and the hiring team to determine additional onboarding needs (if any) beyond the initial onboarding phase and then execute on these needs by creating and facilitating (or providing appropriate POCs and resources for facilitation) team dynamics sessions for the NH and their team.
