About The Position

At FD Thomas, we're looking for a Senior Estimator with deep experience in industrial painting and coating, especially on infrastructure projects such as bridges, penstocks, and wastewater treatment facilities. Based in Sacramento, you'll be part of a dynamic team working on some of the most challenging and rewarding projects in the region. F.D. Thomas, Inc. As a Senior Estimator, you'll lead the charge in preparing and coordinating full estimates for large-scale industrial painting projects. You'll collaborate with our VP of Estimating and project teams to ensure precision, efficiency, and excellence in every bid. Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience in construction and estimating, with a focus on industrial painting.
  • Proven track record estimating projects involving bridges, penstocks, and wastewater facilities.
  • Strong knowledge of Constructware, Viewpoint, and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.

Responsibilities

  • Estimate industrial painting projects involving bridges, penstocks, and wastewater facilities.
  • Analyze project plans, specifications, and scopes to develop detailed cost estimates.
  • Prepare conceptual budgets and quantity take-offs using established production rates.
  • Collaborate with vendors and subcontractors to secure competitive pricing and complete scope coverage.
  • Attend job walks, pre-bid meetings, and planning sessions.
  • Support project managers with buyouts, purchasing, and change orders.
  • Maintain thorough documentation and ensure quality assurance throughout the estimating process.
