WHAT YOU'LL DO: As our nightshift Site EHS Specialist , you'll be responsible for conducting daily EHS observations of field crews during their assigned work activities. Provides direct support to the Project PM, Project Leaders, Regional EHS Manager, and Corporate EHS Director to ensure personnel, equipment, materials, and job-site conditions meet safety, health, and compliance standards. This role requires maintaining a strong field presence, with at least 80% of the workday spent onsite engaging with crews and monitoring safe work practices.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in safety, industrial hygiene, or a related field of study preferred.
  • High school diploma.
  • Must have a comprehensive knowledge of OSHA regulations for the construction industry.
  • Competent knowledge and application of the safety principles and practices listed above.
  • Must have a broad working knowledge in the theory and practice of IH including methods, procedures, and techniques used in collecting samples and testing for health hazards common in the industrial painting business.
  • Must be able to communicate technical information in a clear and concise manner.
  • Must have excellent writing abilities in the preparation and delivery of safety plans, reports, training materials, investigations, and other written correspondence.
  • Ability to effectively work with all levels of people from entry level laborers to Project Leaders, Division Managers, Corporate Office/Jobsite Staff, and Public Officials.
  • Computer proficient using Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Windows, Outlook, etc.)
  • Must be able to organize and prioritize work with minimal supervision.

Nice To Haves

  • Bilingual in English and Spanish
  • No less than three (5) years' experience in Construction Safety or IH management.
  • 5 years of dedicated EHS experience in construction safety

Responsibilities

  • Perform daily EHS observations of field crews and personnel.
  • Maintain strong onsite visibility; able to work away from home on assigned jobsites.
  • Attend early morning EHS and JSA meetings (7:00 AM or earlier).
  • Work weekends, holidays, and evenings as needed to support evolving EHS requirements.
  • Multi-task effectively in a fast-paced and demanding environment.
  • Apply diplomacy, professionalism, and stress management when carrying out job duties.
  • Research, interpret, and apply OSHA, EPA, DOT, and other regulatory requirements.
  • Conduct EHS assessments of work activities and evaluate site hazards.
  • Develop and update Job Safety Analyses (JSAs), Site Safety Plans, Activity Hazard Analyses (AHAs), Task-Specific Lift Plans, and Fall Protection Plans.
  • Evaluate the adequacy of PPE and safety systems.
  • Support management with EHS compliance concerns.
  • Perform industrial hygiene sampling; demonstrate practical understanding of equipment and technical IH principles.
  • Conduct Hazardous Waste Characterization, including CAM 17 and RCRA 8.
  • Learn or perform testing and certification for Grade‑D breathing air.
  • Conduct and participate in daily and weekly toolbox and safety meetings.
  • Mentor and coach field personnel on safe work practices.
  • Close training gaps through onsite instruction or coordination of courses through SafetySkills.
  • Ensure all employees onsite maintain required certifications for their scope of work.
  • Run audit reports within SafetySkills and other EHS software systems.
  • Investigate and report all accidents and incidents involving employees, subcontractors, visitors, and others.
  • Manage Return-to-Work and Light Duty assignments.
  • Serve as liaison with the AIS Workers' Compensation Coordinator.
  • Coordinate Medical Surveillance activities.
  • Perform random and new-hire drug testing; collect test specimens as required.
  • Immediately correct unsafe conditions and communicate issues through the appropriate chain of command.
  • Ensure follow-through and documentation of all safety-related infractions or corrective actions.
  • Maintain a system for reporting, monitoring, and resolving safety concerns.
  • Assist in developing, implementing, and enforcing company safety policies and procedures.
  • Participate in and advise the Jobsite Safety Committee; maintain regular communication with leadership regarding safety issues requiring management action.
  • Conduct daily jobsite inspections and document all findings.
  • Perform audits of EHS documentation and verify all site EHS records are properly maintained in electronic databases.
  • Support the Jobsite FDT office and project personnel in maintaining an effective EHS program.
  • Other duties as assigned.
