As an Equipment Engineer at Tesla, you will play a crucial role in developing and enhancing equipment for our advanced battery cell manufacturing processes. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to building a world-class manufacturing facility from the ground up in a fast-paced and demanding environment. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Engineering, Quality, and Process teams, to take new products from initial design through prototype development to full production. Your work will involve optimizing equipment and processes, ensuring safety, and driving continuous improvements in a critical subsystem of innovative products. Drive ramp of new production lines by characterizing baseline performance and capability of each system and drive actions to maintain or improve performance as measured by product quality and tool availability Lead initiatives to improve safety and ergonomics of production equipment, ensuring compliance with regulations and best practices Design, fabricate, install, and modify equipment improvements, including managing bidding and quoting processes Collaborate with Controls Engineers and technicians to troubleshoot and optimize processes using PLC, HMI, or tool management software Develop detailed maintenance instructions for complex and ambiguous repair tasks Generate and maintain documentation including machine and process specifications, drawings, BOM, spare parts, PFMEA, control plan, process flow chart Analyze production with statistical software (JMP or Minitab preferred) to understand manufacturing uptime, availability, and reliability metrics-yield, OEE, cycle time, quality and investigate bottlenecks to identify root cause and countermeasure to maximize throughput Integrate machine interactions with the plant-wide Manufacturing Execution System (MES)
