Essential Functions/Major Responsibilities: Maintain handlers in the Engineering Lab including area clean-up. Build prototype systems and report defects by redline corrections of prints and BOM’s. Troubleshoot to component level. Provide training and technical assistance to lower-level Engineering Techs. Modify fabricated parts from redlined drawings. Assemble breadboards and cables from schematics and sketches. Pre-release version testing to verify upgrade performance and analyze potential or real problems. Log test results and report all findings of tests performed and assist engineers in evaluating test results. Design experiments to duplicate customer problems, develop data collection strategies and recommend solutions. Assist assemblers on new prototype and pilot builds. Support Final Test and Field Service. Support company and department programs (i.e.: First Aid/CPR and HazMat Response Team). Domestic and/or international travel may be required. Assist in other duties as required. Supervisory Responsibility: N/A Qualifications: Education: Associates degree in Electronics or related field, or equivalent technical training. Experience: Minimum of ten years’ experience as an electromechanical technician or engineering technician. Skills/Technical Requirements: Knowledge of engineering drawings (mechanical & electrical), electronics theory, thermal controls, PCB soldering and rework, electronic components sourcing, and completing bills of materials, and software testing/debugging. Experience with oscilloscopes, meters, data collection equipment, hand tools, materials, pneumatic valves, and cylinders. Ability to communicate technical information to others in an on-the-job training situation. Computer literate in MS Office to produce reports and presentations. SolidWorks/AutoCAD knowledge is a plus. Job Conditions: Lab environment with constant or intermittent noise. Physical Demands/Strengths: Ability to stand or sit at a bench for extended periods; bend, crouch, sit or kneel to work on a system. Protective Devices Required: Safety glasses to be worn when drilling, sawing, filing, working with air. Additional safety equipment (PPE) may be required depending on the work situation.
