About The Position

The Senior Engineering Manager - Sciences at Weatherford is responsible for leading the Data Science and Sensor Physics (DSSP) group within the Research, Development, and Engineering (RD&E) organization. This role involves overseeing the development and communication of scientific algorithms and workflows for formation evaluation and well integrity measurements, ensuring effective project delivery, and maintaining strong stakeholder communication.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in any STEM subject.
  • 15+ years of relevant oilfield experience.
  • Strong understanding of wireline and logging-while-drilling sensors and measurements.
  • Domain knowledge in geoscience, reservoir engineering, or drilling engineering.
  • Minimum of 5 years supervisory experience with multiple direct reports.
  • Previous research experience.
  • Strong time management and organizational skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to explain statistical concepts to non-scientists.
  • Ability to work effectively with scientists from different disciplines.
  • Good problem-solving skills and self-motivated decision-making abilities.

Nice To Haves

  • Understanding of project management fundamentals.
  • SME level experience in NMR, Nuclear Measurements, Resistivity, or Acoustics.
  • Working knowledge of well placement and geosteering.
  • Proficiency in industry-standard Geoscience packages (e.g., Techlog, Geolog, IP, Petrel, Kappa, Eclipse).
  • Proficiency in mathematical programming languages (e.g., MATLAB, Python, R, Julia, Fortran, C or C++).
  • Knowledge of FEM modeling and signal processing techniques.
  • Experience in Data Science and ML/AI techniques.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, mentor, and supervise the DSSP team, ensuring clear communication of expectations and responsibilities.
  • Maintain effective communication with internal and external stakeholders, presenting complex information clearly.
  • Support existing systems and measurements, including calibration and troubleshooting.
  • Provide training and guidance on methods developed by DSSP to peer groups.
  • Support Wireline production and manufacturing, including testing and quality control.
  • Engage with academic institutions and support MSc and PhD projects.
  • Interact with universities and industry consortia, providing market feedback and strategies.
  • Manage technology and evaluation requirements based on market needs, including vendor qualification.
  • Define RD&E strategy across formation evaluation disciplines.
  • Integrate diverse information and innovate across multiple disciplines.
