About The Position

The Sr Utilities Engineer – Electrical will lead and oversee the operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of electrical infrastructure, power distribution, and emergency backup systems at a Pharmaceutical Manufacturing Facility in Social Circle, GA. The electrical engineer will ensure compliance with standard operation procedures (SOPs) and electrical code, maintaining the highest standards of safety and reliability. The engineer will act as a key technical leader, collaborating across operations, maintenance, manufacturing, automation, quality assurance, validation, and reliability engineering teams. Additional duties will include driving electrical safety program enhancements and championing sustainability initiatives, including carbon reduction strategies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering discipline required.
  • 2 – 4 years of related experience.
  • Related work experience within a technical or GMP environment is preferred.
  • Must have design experience in the following as a minimum: Electrical power distribution (115kV/15kV/480v), Generators, Switchgears, UPS, Inverters, Automatic Transfer Switches, Transformers, Harmonic Filters, Variable Frequency Drives, Motor Control Centers (MCC’s), Motor Starters, Interior and Exterior Lighting and Power Management System.
  • Candidate must have an extensive knowledge of general electrical design standards, NFPA code requirements and other codes related to design.
  • Candidate must be able to read and interpret electrical drawings.
  • Knowledgeable in electrical and instrumentation design in hazardous location, security/access control systems, fire alarm and smoke control systems.
  • Experience performing Power Systems Studies using analysis software. (SKM Power Tools Preferred).
  • Able to apply fundamental engineering principles across multiple disciplines while demonstrating a solid understanding of theories and practices used in areas outside your primary expertise.
  • Must be able to provide solutions that reflect understanding business objectives and cost implications.
  • Must have a demonstrated track record of successfully executing engineering projects, and supporting facility issues, in a FDA-regulated manufacturing environment.
  • Excellent technical problem-solving skills are a must.
  • Must have excellent organizational, verbal and written communication skills; able to efficiently communicate with cross-functional teams and management on recommended course of action, with minimal assistance.
  • Apply Lean Manufacturing principles and Six Sigma quality techniques to drive process improvement and operational excellence.
  • Have the ability to prioritize multiple tasks and work on multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to lead cross-functional teams, exert broad influence, and work as a collaborative team member.
  • Must be a self-starter, detail oriented and able to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Must have proficient computer skills and be experienced using MS Office software (Word, Excel and PowerPoint) and MS Project.

Responsibilities

  • Collect, analyze, and report critical data to ensure the reliable performance of electrical distribution systems.
  • Perform equipment selection, load calculations, and power system studies to ensure optimal performance.
  • Interpret electrical schematics to troubleshoot issues and maintain system reliability.
  • Create and update standard operating procedures (SOPs), technical specifications (Design/Functional/System), Process Changes, CAPAs, and P&IDs.
  • Participate in validation activities including documentation of IQ/OQ protocols and completion of summary reports.
  • Periodically review and assist with Short Circuit Coordination Studies.
  • Manage small-scale capital projects, creating scope of work, risk assessments, justification, cost estimates, and implementing purchase order requisitions.
  • Able to participate and make suggestions for capital planning, spending, and tracking.
  • Support the planning and execution of large sized capital projects by working in cross-functional teams as the Engineering lead/representative.
  • Assist in driving projects to completion and ensure timeline and budget objectives are met.
  • Must stay current with all assigned training to ensure compliance with plant and divisional procedures related to your role and department responsibilities.
  • Maintain a continuous improvement mindset by expanding engineering knowledge, enhancing technical problem-solving skills, and staying current with biopharmaceutical industry best practices and emerging technologies.
  • Actively supporting information sharing and learning between team members.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks.
  • Work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Be on-call at all times to respond to plant-wide emergencies and manufacturing needs.
  • Be able to perform other duties as assigned.
