About The Position

The Self-Driving Hardware team is responsible for designing the computing hardware that delivers the autonomous driving capability of Tesla vehicles and humanoid robots. We design the complex high speed boards with Tesla customized neural engine silicon, to deliver inferencing performance while meeting efficiency, cost, reliability goals. Hardware ownership: Specification, architecture, design, simulation, schematics, layout supervision, prototype, validation

Requirements

• Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience
• 5+ years of relevant circuit board design experience
• Demonstrated depth in end-to-end PCBA design
• Strong in high speed board design(>5Gbps) and knowledge of interfaces (DDR, PCIe, MIPI, Ethernet, etc.)
• Good understanding of analog and power circuits (MOSFETs, op-amps, switching regulators, gate drivers, etc.)
• Proficiency with EE tools (oscilloscopes, BERT, network analyzers, signal generators, etc.)
• Experience shipping high-volume electronics products

Nice To Haves

• Experience with DRAM is preferred (LPDDR, GDDR, HBM)

Responsibilities

• Design of electrical architecture, electronic circuits, processor selection and integration, system timing and bus loading
• Collaborate with PCB layout, firmware, reliability, program management, mechanical, and EMC teams
• Thoroughly document design requirements, calculations, power budgets, etc.
• Design for manufacturing, design for test and design for EMC
• Able to think outside the box and navigate through ambiguity
