About the Role: The Anti-Money Laundering (AML) Enhanced Due Diligence (EDD) Investigator performs enhanced due diligence periodic reviews of the Bank's customers that are at elevated risk for money laundering in compliance with the Bank Secrecy Act and USA PATRIOT Act. The AML EDD Investigator reviews individual and business customer relationships to determine whether account activity is consistent with expected activity and to identify any possible breach of Bank policy and United States laws and regulations. Senior Investigators are responsible for reviewing complex and high-risk customers that require greater analysis skills. The Senior title reflects advanced investigation skills and programmatic responsibility. Serves as lead trainer for new team members and assists EDD Managers with creating and implementing onboarding plans. Ensures assigned group of Investigators complete alerts and cases in line with department timelines and expectations. Escalate concerns to management as necessary. Responsible for high-risk customer EDD reviews including reviewing transaction activity and assessing the overall AML risk rating. Analyze high-risk customer transaction activity to ascertain legitimacy of the business and the business transactions ensuring that the transaction activity is commensurate with the nature of the business entity. Analyze AML policies, procedures, and third-party audits of entities required to maintain an AML program to ascertain the entities overall level of compliance and make recommendations regarding the entity based on the level of risk the entity poses to the bank. Prepare written analyses for all assigned high risk customers. Complete all assigned high-risk alerts generated from AML systems. Conduct training, mentoring, and oversight for newer EDD analysts. Request and review necessary supporting documentation for EDD depending on the type of review. Demonstrates compliance with all bank regulations for assigned job function and applies to designated job responsibilities – knowledge may be gained through coursework and on-the-job training. Keeps up to date on regulation changes. Follows all Bank policies and procedures, compliance regulations, and completes all required annual or job-specific training. Maintain a working knowledge of Bank's written policies and procedures regarding Bank Secrecy Act, Regulation CC, Regulation E, Bank Security and other regulations as applicable to this job description. May be asked to coach, mentor, or train others and teach coursework as subject matter expert. Actively learns, demonstrates, and fosters the Columbia corporate culture in all actions and words.
