About The Position

As our Senior Director, R&D – On Market Support, you’ll be at the forefront of ensuring our diagnostics solutions not only stay at the cutting edge, but continuously deliver value and reliability for patients and customers worldwide. Based at our vibrant San Diego site, you’ll lead a dynamic team, collaborating with cross-functional partners to shape and execute product lifecycle strategies that set industry standards.

Requirements

• 10+ years’ experience in R&D, product development, or sustaining engineering (with at least 5 years in senior leadership), ideally in diagnostics, medical devices, or life sciences.
• Deep technical expertise in molecular biology, testing laboratory practices (CLIA, CAP), and regulatory environments (FDA, ISO, CE Mark).
• Proven success leading cross-functional teams and driving results in a fast-paced, matrixed organization.
• Exceptional communication, stakeholder management, and problem-solving skills.
• Passion for operational excellence, innovation, and building inclusive, collaborative teams.
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Life Sciences, or related field (advanced degree preferred).

Responsibilities

• Partner with marketing, operations, quality, regulatory, and commercial teams to define and execute product lifecycle roadmaps that exceed customer expectations and meet business goals.
• Oversee all on-market support activities—troubleshooting, sustaining engineering, product enhancements, and lifecycle management—ensuring our diagnostics portfolio remains best-in-class.
• Build, mentor, and inspire a high-performing team committed to collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.
• Champion process improvements, drive root cause analysis, and lead change management efforts to deliver timely, effective product enhancements.
• Serve as a key escalation point for complex product issues, ensuring rapid resolution and clear communication with all stakeholders.
• Uphold the highest standards of regulatory compliance, documentation, and validation—always putting patient safety and customer satisfaction first.
