About The Position

GENERAL SUMMARY Responsible for providing oversight and direction for all aspects of Shelter Operations and Transition Housing. The Senior Director is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the SMH shelter facilities, including programming, procedures, guidelines, food service to residents, maintenance, and safety & security. Manages and monitors all staff. Has primary responsibility for community relations and interagency events. Is also the spiritual leader for the staff in spreading the message and commission of Jesus in Matthew 25. Ensures that the overall plans/ goals adhere to the SMH mission statement, which is "providing a spiritual environment that is both compassionate and disciplined." The Senior Director is responsible for safe and effective transitional housing in the Naples area and ensuring the key principles of the SMH recovery programs are embraced by those in transitional housing.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in counseling, addiction, business management or related field.
  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience working with homeless and vulnerable populations or relevant combination of experience
  • Lives a spiritually mature Christian life.
  • Demonstrates a strong desire to serve the Mission of St. Matthew’s House.
  • Must agree and embrace St. Matthew’s House Statement of Faith.
  • Must reflect St. Matthew’s House core values.
  • Demonstrates self-initiative and independent judgement skills.
  • Must be able to establish and maintain appropriate boundaries with staff members, residents and volunteers.
  • Ability to work as a team leader, supervise staff, coordinate activities with other staff to meet overall objectives within specified timeframes
  • Possesses training and/or work experience in case management, problem solving, leadership, and conflict management.
  • Prior experience with case management software, Mission Tracker preferred.
  • Ability to provide firm but compassionate care for residents.
  • Ability to manage and prioritize large volumes of activity and workload.
  • Solid written and oral communication skills.
  • Experience in preparing for and presenting to diverse audiences.
  • Demonstrated experience making good decisions based upon a mixture of analysis, wisdom, experience and judgement.
  • Prior experience leading teams through change and building an engaging work environment.
  • Must be comfortable with ambiguity and making decisions on the fly when required.
  • Must enjoy developing innovative and creative solutions to complex issues.
  • Should enjoy working in a collaborative environment and seeking multiple perspectives.
  • Willingly and eagerly handles roadblocks and uses resources efficiently and effectively.

  • Valid driver’s license with reliable transportation to travel to locations, as needed. This role is required to maintain primary auto insurance minimum liability limits of $100,000/$300,000 bodily injury, $100,000 property damage or $300,000 combined single limit. Must be an approved St. Matthew’s House driver.

Responsibilities

  • Embraces and models SMH’s Statement of Faith.
  • Interviews and selects, provides orientation, supervises training, and provides job development opportunities for staff and volunteers
  • Supervises directors and managers tasked with staff oversight in the day-to-day operations
  • Responsible for maintaining the integrity of resident records consistent with accepted case management practices.
  • Audits resident records for quality assurance and care of residents.
  • Oversees compliance with SMH policies and procedures and all applicable local, state and federal laws.
  • Ensures that shelter and housing facilities are maintained and SMH properties.
  • Maintains an open door policy with staff for listening, praying, and teaching as needs arise.
  • Coaches staff and residents through personal example and discipleship.
  • Develops direct reports.
  • Lays out work and projects in a well thought out and organized manner.
  • Conducts annual performance reviews and sets performance and development goals with all staff.
  • Plans and coordinates life skills classes and education to assist residents in obtaining skills that will enable them to cope with their personal situations.
  • Obtains and utilizes volunteers for workshops, as needed.
  • Establishes an annual operations budget for Shelter and Housing operations and maintains expenses within the budget.
  • Oversees the Intake function for the Shelter and Addiction Recovery Programs.
  • Works directly with the Hunger and Homeless Coalition(s) to impact the state of homelessness in the Collier County and surrounding areas.
  • As needed, attends meeting with representatives of other agencies to keep the community up to date regarding shelter and housing operations, as well as keeping staff up to date on services provided by outside agencies.
  • Maintains and develops relationships with outside vendors and appropriately manages third party vendors onsite at SMH locations, including the Nurse Case Manager and LMHC.
  • Collaborates with internal departments to ensure effective and timely internal communication and operations occurs.
  • Oversees the planning and implementation of Development events at SMH shelter locations in partnership with Development and Marcom leadership.
  • Oversees the transitional housing program for Naples area.
  • Develops and implements plan to effectively use resources between Shelter locations.
  • Maintains current knowledge of trends, technology, policies, practices and information related to this role.
  • Develops recommendations and presents to leadership to ensure continuous improvement of operations.
  • Travels as needed to SMH locations and works a varied schedule based upon operational needs.
  • Other duties as assigned by VP of Administration
