About The Position

As the Senior Director, Medical Affairs, you will lead the development and execution of Medical Affairs strategies and tactics to support the Coagulation Disease Area (DA). You will serve as the medical and scientific expert and represent current US medical practice to internal CSL Behring stakeholders. You will have a high awareness of patient needs, current therapeutic practices and new therapeutic trends in the US market. Essential to success is an outstanding partnership with the medical field team which will report to you through a Coagulation Field Medical Director; and, with Market Access, and Commercial to maximize the value proposition of the medicines in your portfolio. Externally, you will assist health care professionals and payers to optimize patient care and treatment outcomes through evidence-based decisions. You will: • Lead the US Medical team (Medical directors/scientists and Field MSL Lead) for the US Disease Area • Develop and execute annual US Medical plans based on global medical strategies • Localize global medical content for US Medical use • Provide leadership and strategic direction for interactions and communications with external customers, key organizations, and institutions. • Provide guidance, training and collaboration with medical field teams, Marketing, Market access, and sales teams. • Partner with US Commercial to ensure promotional materials are developed with fidelity to the data and scientific language calibrated to the appropriate audience. • Maintain trusted relationships with key thought leaders in relevant fields • Review and approve medical and scientific content of Regulatory, Safety, Scientific Affairs, Medical Affairs, and Commercial • Represent US Medical inputs at Medical Affairs Strategy Team (MAST), and communicate outputs of MAST to the US Medical team • Inform all major stakeholders of unmet needs and facilitating appropriate approaches to address them. The Role • Develop and execute medical tactics in line with Medical Affairs strategy. • Drive the scientific agenda by focusing and aligning resources with key priorities in the region. • Provide strategic leadership, coaching, and direction to the Medical Science Liaison (MSL) Leader, ensuring alignment of field medical objectives with the US Medical Affairs strategy. • Oversee development and execution of MSL field plans, guide insight generation priorities, and ensure strong bidirectional communication between field teams and headquarters. • Foster a high performing, scientifically credible field organization that effectively engages external experts, gathers actionable insights, and supports evidence based decision making across the assigned disease area. • Be the US lead scientific and clinical expert in the assigned disease area. • Provide input on US labeling and regulatory strategy. • Maintain in-depth understanding of disease states, assigned products, competitors, marketplace, and US practice guidelines. • Monitor and evaluate medical literature for potential impact on CSL Behring products and initiatives. • Represent US Medical in data gap exercises, evidence generation and publication planning. • Review US promotional material in PRC. • Interact with experts at medical meetings, advisory boards, and outreach meetings to represent CSL and strengthen its reputation in the therapeutic area. • Maintain external orientation by participating actively in external disease area events and activities.

Requirements

  • MD preferred; advanced scientific degree (PhD, PharmD) with relevant scientific background required
  • Minimum 12 years' pharmaceutical/ biotherapeutics industry experience, preferably in a medical sub-specialty relevant to CSL product lines
  • Demonstrated leadership in management required, preferably in a global organization
  • Strong track record in developing and executing medical strategy for key markets.
  • Strong familiarity with all phases of drug development, including clinical development, regulatory and life cycle management.
  • Experience working across and building partnerships between Marketing, Market Access, and Regulatory.
  • Demonstrated track record of building and maintaining a KOL network.
  • Experience working within an international company with a complex organizational environment and the ability to operate in a matrix team-oriented structure.
  • Ability to travel up to 30%
