About The Position

At DaVita, we are redefining what it means to care for patients with kidney disease. We are seeking a Senior Director of Clinical Programs to lead the design and execution of high-impact patient experience and activation strategies across our value-based care organization (DaVita IKC) and our dialysis operations (DaVita Kidney Care). This role offers a unique opportunity to shape how patients experience and engage in their care during vulnerable moments, partnering across clinical, operational, and technology teams. This position sits at the intersection of strategy and execution, requiring a leader who can translate bold ideas into practical, scalable programs that sustainably improve patient outcomes and experience. The successful candidate will lead an established team of 6-8 individuals, ranging from analyst to senior manager, and will serve as a trusted thought partner to senior executives, influencing enterprise priorities related to clinical program design and patient engagement.

  • Proven experience taking ownership of clinical programs, ideally within complex or chronic care populations, to deliver sustainable, outcomes-driven results.
  • Highly analytical problem solver who leverages data and feedback to iterate quickly and drive continuous improvement.
  • Strong track record of building high performing teams and managing leadership teams.
  • Ability to naturally attract, retain, and nurture top talent while driving engagement.
  • Thrive in ambiguity and adept at building structure where none exists.
  • Proven experience leading cross-functional teams through transformational change at scale.
  • Continuously benchmark against industry best practices and emerging trends to ensure DaVita remains a leader in patient experience and activation.
  • Lead with deep emotional intelligence and situational leadership, consistently aligning actions with DaVita's Core Values and fostering a culture of belonging.
  • 8-10+ years of progressive experience in clinical program management, healthcare operations, population health, or a related field, ideally working with complex, chronic, or high-acuity patient populations.
  • 5+ years of people leadership experience, with a proven track record of managing and developing other leaders (Managers/Directors).
  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Deep understanding of patient education, behavior change, and patient engagement strategies.
  • Demonstrated ability to recognize, prioritize, and evaluate workload and specific growth opportunities.
  • Possesses the ability to balance strategic vision and execution capabilities to deliver results.
  • Proficiency in PowerPoint and Excel.
  • Comfort with ambiguity.
  • Outstanding conceptual, analytical and strategic skills; strong business and financial acumen with a sense of shareholder responsibility.
  • Strong executive communication skills.
  • Ability to effectively handle and drive multiple projects with multiple teams.
  • Willingness to understand the complexity of healthcare markets.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in Healthcare Administration (MHA), Public Health (MPH), Business Administration (MBA), or a related discipline.

Responsibilities

  • Design and lead a patient experience program centered on three core pillars: Great Interactions, Follow-Through that Matters, and Service Recovery.
  • Equip care teams with best-in-class communication and engagement skills to ensure every interaction builds trust and delivers value.
  • Ensure consistent delivery on patient needs, turning commitments into action and strengthening long-term relationships.
  • Build systems to identify when service falls short and rapidly "make it right," utilizing patient feedback and real-time survey insights to close the loop.
  • Drive strategies that empower patients, especially during their overwhelming early experiences with dialysis, to improve clinical outcomes.
  • Train and support frontline care teams to engage patients with empathy, actively listen, and co-create meaningful care plans.
  • Reimagine how patients experience care during critical moments that matter.
  • Re-think how to prioritize and sequence information for new patients to maximize patient adoption and meet them where they are.
  • Apply a critical lens to patient segmentation, ensuring education and engagement strategies align with a patient’s readiness, particularly for those who enter dialysis unexpectedly and face complex health challenges.
