About the team and the role: Global Consumer Insights (GCI) is part of eBay’s Growth organization and exists to ignite growth by bringing the voice of the consumers to the center of eBay’s most important decisions. This role will operate at the intersection of consumer insight, enterprise strategy, and commercial decision-making, ensuring that eBay’s most complex, high-impact questions are informed by deep consumer understanding, powered by advanced analytics and AI-enabled insight capabilities. As Senior Director, Global Consumer Insights, you will report to the VP, Global Consumer Insights, and set the direction for insight work that directly shapes eBay’s highest-priority initiatives. You will lead a senior team of insights leaders and serve as a trusted partner to VP and SVP-level stakeholders across Strategy, Growth, Business and Product. This role requires strong commercial judgment, executive presence, influencing skills, and the ability to proactively anticipate business needs—connecting consumer insight to business outcomes to drive measurable impact.

Requirements

  • 15+ years of experience in global consumer insights, market research, strategy, or consulting, with a proven track record of leading enterprise-scale, high-impact initiatives.
  • Strong commercial and financial acumen, applying customer insights to investment decisions and growth strategy.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence and build trusted relationships with VP- and senior executive–level stakeholders in a highly matrixed, global organization.
  • Deep expertise in customer-centric strategy, synthesizing diverse data sources—including advanced analytics and AI-powered outputs—into clear points of view that drive business action.
  • Exceptional executive storytelling and communication skills, confidently presenting recommendations that clarify complexity, trade-offs, and strategic implications.
  • A proactive leadership mindset with a strong growth orientation; comfortable operating in ambiguity, connecting the dots, and guiding the organization toward customer-led outcomes.
  • Proven ability to build and lead high-performing, collaborative teams that deliver measurable business impact.
  • Familiarity with AI-enabled research tools, predictive analytics, and emerging insight technologies, applying them with sound commercial judgment.

Responsibilities

  • Shape and lead enterprise-level insight agendas aligned to eBay’s top strategic and commercial priorities, integrating deep consumer understanding with AI-enabled analytics and scalable frameworks to accelerate customer-led decisions.
  • Serve as a thought partner to senior level leaders, proactively identifying emerging risks and opportunities and anticipating insight needs before they surface in the business.
  • Drive the integration of consumer intelligence into eBay’s commercial planning and performance processes, ensuring customer understanding informs growth strategy, investment prioritization, and measurable business outcomes
  • Translate complex qualitative, quantitative, AI-derived, and internal data into clear, compelling executive narratives that connect the dots and influence high-stakes decision-making.
  • Lead, coach, and inspire a high-performing team of insights professionals, setting a strong standard for strategic thinking, commercial impact, and insights-to-action.
  • Establish and model best practices for enterprise insight delivery across GCI, strengthening the function’s reputation as an influential, indispensable partner to the business.
  • Champion the evolution of insights capabilities by integrating AI-driven tools, automation, and advanced analytics to enhance speed, precision, and strategic impact.
