About The Position

As the nation's premier tire distributor, ATD’s coast-to-coast distribution network provides approximately 80,000 customers across the U.S. and Canada with rapid and frequent delivery of high quality tires, custom wheels and shop supplies. Position Description: The Senior Director, Assistant Controller, is responsible for overseeing the company's accounting operations to ensure accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with GAAP and internal controls. This role is central to understanding all facets of business transactions and their impact on financial reporting. The position requires a strategic thinker with deep technical expertise, strong leadership capabilities, and a proactive approach to identifying and resolving financial and operational issues.

Responsibilities

  • Own the general ledger and ensure a thorough understanding of all GL accounts, ensuring that all accounts are reconciled in a timely manner.
  • Oversee all accounts, ledgers, and reporting systems ensuring compliance with appropriate GAAP standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Review monthly financial statements, perform trend and variance analysis to ensure accuracy of reporting and drive the month-end accounting closing process.
  • Lead the external audit process and liaise with audit team.
  • Consistently analyze financial data and present financial reports in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Assist and monitor the preparation of quarterly and annual reports, as well as clearly communicate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial results to management.
  • Develop and maintain accounting policies and procedures, identify and communicate process inefficiencies, and recommend improvements.
  • Represent Finance in cross-functional IT enhancement projects.
  • Lead initiatives to enhance financial systems and reporting capabilities.
  • Provide leadership in strengthening internal communications with staff at all levels throughout the organization; foster a positive and supportive work environment.
  • Coach and develop accounting team members to achieve optimal performance.
  • Participate in due diligence and post-acquisition financial integration.
  • Support the budgeting and forecasting processes lead by the FP&A team.
