We are looking for a Sr. Director, R&D Business Partner that will be responsible for the global portfolio of New Product Development, Applications and Technology Development. As a business partner to the BU leader and member of the Global R&D Leadership team, this person ensures the execution and delivery of new products, research into new technologies and development of Applications competency.

Requirements

  • Hold a Ph.D. in Chemistry or Materials Science and have a proven record of success in industrial R&D, with multiple material and product launches across diverse technical areas, ideally within the electronics industry.
  • Bring extensive experience across all stages of R&D — from early research, IP landscaping, and strategic planning to product development, scale-up, and commercialization.
  • Have a proven capability to build and lead high-performing technical teams, including mentoring department-level technical leaders, developing managers, and fostering a culture of excellence and innovation across expert roles.
  • Have experience as a global leader with a demonstrated ability to direct diverse programs and teams across regions. You have a strong background in developing and executing technology strategies that drive business growth.
  • Deep expertise in materials science, including chemistries, sintering materials, polymer composites, formulations, and getters.
  • Strong understanding of semiconductor assembly processes and product commercialization.
  • Proven ability to lead global R&D portfolios and deliver new technologies and products to market.
  • Strategic thinker skilled in aligning innovation and business objectives.
  • Experienced in building and developing high-performing technical and applications teams.
  • Effective collaborator and business partner with strong communication and leadership skills.

Responsibilities

  • Lead global R&D team, driving development of advanced products for die attach, power electronics, interconnects, cameras, and sensors.
  • Own NPD, technology, and applications portfolios, ensuring timely product launches.
  • Manage technology pipelines for sintering materials, polymer composites, adhesives, high-res solders, fluxes, alloys, and getters.
  • Develop advanced application capabilities to demonstrate material performance and drive commercially viable solutions.
  • Serve as R&D business partner, aligning projects with business needs and reporting on progress.
  • Scout and evaluate emerging technologies to expand the company’s innovation pipeline.
  • Oversee global lab operations, safety, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Ensure career development, succession planning, and performance management for the R&D team.
  • Translate customer needs into technology and product roadmaps; anticipate competitive threats and propose strategic projects.
  • Represent the company with customers and in the electronics industry.
  • Collaborate with Global Process Engineering to integrate R&D knowledge into product launches.
  • Identify resource gaps and manage global R&D CapEx planning and investments.
  • Establish the company as a recognized technical leader in the industry.
