About The Position

The Sr. Data Science Manager will be responsible for developing and executing the vision for machine learning and statistical modeling across Resideo’s connected home ecosystem. You will partner with engineering, product, and business leaders to ensure our data science investments translate into measurable product and customer impact. This role requires both team leadership and hands-on technical depth — setting the strategic direction, guiding model design, review, and deployment practices while nurturing a culture of experimentation and operational excellence that pushes Resideo closer to its goals and .

Requirements

  • 10+ years of combined experience in data science, applied ML, or related technical roles, including at least 5 years in a leadership capacity.
  • Proven track record of shipping machine learning or predictive analytics solutions in production environments.
  • Deep experience with Python, SQL, and data science libraries (Scikit-learn, Pandas, TensorFlow/PyTorch, MLFlow).
  • Familiarity with time-series modeling, anomaly detection, or sensor/IoT data pipelines.
  • Experience in Databricks, Azure (or AWS) cloud ecosystems, and CI/CD pipelines for ML workloads.
  • The ability to work in-office three days/week (Tu/Weds/Thurs) in adherence with our required hybrid work environment [Any one of the following Office Locations: Austin, TX or Golden Valley, MN]

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in highly rigorous engineering environments, competitive technical programs, or equivalent applied industry experience demonstrating an ability to be analytical and solve complex engineering problems at a level commonly seen in top‑tier technical training or high performing engineering roles.
  • Experience with HVAC systems or related IoT industrial applications
  • Knowledge and experience with Databricks, PySpark, Jupyter notebooks, Git, AWS or Azure cloud environments
  • A continuous learning mindset with a willingness to stay updated with the latest trends and technologies in data science and machine learning.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence technical and non-technical audiences.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and mentor a team of data scientists working on multiple product lines (e.g., HVAC diagnostics, water leak detection, and energy optimization).
  • Drive the development, validation, and deployment of predictive and machine learning models in collaboration with software and data engineering teams.
  • Build, Deploy, and Promote engineering rigor through structured code reviews, well-maintained Jira boards, and clear project documentation to align data science outputs with business and technical goals.
  • Partner with product managers to translate ambiguous business questions into measurable, data-driven experiments and insights.
  • Establish best practices for model lifecycle management, including reproducibility, observability, and ML operations.
  • Create alignment between data science, data engineering, and analytics organizations to ensure shared data assets and metrics frameworks.
  • Represent the Data Science function in cross-company strategy discussions and roadmap planning.
  • Champion continuous learning and development within the team, fostering curiosity and technical excellence.
