In the role of Sr. Data Architect working in Milwaukee, WI, you will be part of a Data Product Delivery team. This role is responsible for gathering data requirements, designing logical/physical data models, establishing and refining data flow diagrams, and providing data knowledge to deliver great solutions. An ideal candidate will be able to advocate for treating corporate data as an asset and effectively interact with managers, peers, and customers while remaining data-minded. Within their role, the Sr. Data Architect helps mentor/teach team members and works to constantly improve the team's practice.

Requirements

  • You have a bachelor’s degree in computer science or engineering OR equivalent experience.
  • You have 5+ years of experience working in Data Architecture, Data Modeling, and/or Data Warehouse
  • Understanding of data architecture, data management, data warehousing, and data lakehouse
  • Data modeling skills -- conceptual, logical, physical, normalization, dimensionalization
  • Experience in using specialized data modeling tools, like Erwin or PowerDesigner
  • Knowledge of relational theory, and relational database management systems, particularly Teradata
  • Familiar with Agile approaches, particularly SAFE. Also useful to know JIRA and Confluence
  • Experience with creating data flow diagrams following a formal technique like Gane-Sarson, Yourdan, etc. Able to use Visio.
  • Successful working independently as well as being a contributing part of a team. Comfortable with occasionally leading small teams in completion of a task. And secure in a teaching role.
  • Functional understanding of industry concepts and tools, such as SQL, requirements gathering, data profiling, UML, BPMN, Cloud, Azure, Databricks, Tableau, and Informatica
  • You take accountability for results, acting with integrity and honoring commitments.
  • You have a thirst for learning, you are always looking for ways to learn and help one another grow.

  • Working knowledge of Salesforce and/or SAP HANA

Responsibilities

  • Create new, and update existing, logical and physical data models using a variety of industry approaches including normalization and multidimensional, following team standards and practices.
  • Create new, and update existing, data flow diagrams following team standards and practices.
  • Consult with larger development team as needed on data issues, data modeling concerns, advice on ELT/ETL, planning or projecting future data changes, providing both industry and business perspectives.
  • Actively participate in teamwork peer reviews, daily stand ups, and other team activities.
  • Regularly be involved in data and AI literacy activities, including on occasion presenting topics to the larger Data and Analytics team.
  • Keep informed on industry, and company issues and trends related to job activities. Work towards understanding the data that they are exposed to, becoming a subject matter expert. Maintain status as a well-informed source of information.
  • Work with data architecture teammates to share knowledge and teach/mentor others along their paths towards professional development.
  • Enhance and maintain team practices and procedures by updating/refreshing documentation and seeking to improve team approaches.
