Summary of Objective: The Senior Cost Accountant is responsible for leading general, cost, and financial accounting functions with a high degree of autonomy and technical expertise. This role drives the integrity, accuracy, and continuous improvement of cost accounting processes, financial reporting, and operational analysis. The Senior Cost Accountant plays a strategic role in supporting manufacturing operations through advanced standard costing, work-in-process analysis, inventory controls, and detailed variance analysis. This position partners cross-functionally with Operations, Engineering, Supply Chain, and Finance leadership to deliver actionable insights that drive performance, cost optimization, and margin improvement. This role is a key contributor to budgeting, forecasting, internal controls, audit support, and enterprise-wide continuous improvement initiatives.

Requirements

  • Bacheor's Degree in a related field and/or 7-10 years related experience and/or training.
  • College Level Mathematical Skills
  • Advanced Computer Skills: Ability to perform the most complex computer tasks and operate various computer programs.
  • Full Professional Proficiency: Ability to speak, read, and write fluently and accurately on all levels pertinent to professional needs.
  • High Reasoning: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where there is only limited standardization. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions that may be provided in various forms.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and oversee the accounting and reconciliation of job cost systems, ensuring integrity and optimization of cost structures.
  • Own the maintenance, accuracy, and analysis of inventory valuation, including Raw Materials, WIP, and Finished Goods.
  • Review and validate labor, burden, and material postings to ensure accurate job costing and financial reporting.
  • Perform detailed gross margin analysis, job closeouts, and trend reporting to support operational decision-making.
  • Prepare and review cost-related journal entries and ensure the accuracy of system-generated entries.
  • Lead daily, monthly, and period-end reconciliations of cost accounts and sub-ledgers.
  • Conduct advanced manufacturing variance analysis (labor, material, overhead) and present findings with actionable recommendations to leadership.
  • Drive and support site-level continuous improvement initiatives focused on cost control, inventory optimization, and contribution margin expansion.
  • Partner with Operations Focus Factory Teams to reduce aging inventory, manage add bills, and improve working capital performance.
  • Perform complex cost studies, financial modeling, and ad hoc analysis to support strategic initiatives and capital investments.
  • Support compliance with PCI Financial Policies and internal control requirements.
  • Ensure timely and accurate audit support related to cost accounting and inventory.
  • Develop, enhance, and present key financial and operational metrics to leadership teams.
  • Serve as a key participant in monthly financial reviews and cross-functional departmental meetings.
  • Identify opportunities to streamline processes, improve reporting automation, and enhance data integrity.
  • Knowledge of and adherence to all PCI, cGMP, GCP, and regulatory policies and procedures.
